Do all headers for the BRZ cause the CEL issue?

I'm still trying to figure out what header to go with for my BRZ which is stock ATM. Right now the 2 I'm really interested in are Revworks and JDL, UEL.

I know with Revworks right now if your car isn't tuned you get the CEL issue. I know there Is a solution with a O2 sensor. I'm not an expert on car parts so I'm not sure how tricky it is or how much trouble if any to use the O2 sensor to stop the issue. Obviously I'd be bringing it to a shop to get done, so would they know what do with this?

Does the JDL header also cause this or do all headers cause this without a tune?

Any other suggestions on headers are very welcome, I'm here to learn.

Also I'm not building a car to race, just same mind as everyone, get more power lol.

Not all header cause a CEL. Headers without a cat do. As far as i know all the UEL headers at the moment are catless. If you go with an uncatted header you solutions are to use either a defouler or mini cat on the sensor, get a tune that cancels the CEL or to move the sensors down to the 2nd cat in the front pipe.

I think UEL gives a little more torque at the low ends and produces that subaru rumble sound people talk about. Aside from those, both of them should be relatively the same.

Biggest difference is the sound. EL is more like a race car UEL is like the traditional Subaru sound. The changes to power and torque vary. UEL can flow better than stock. EL can flow better and be tuned length. The tuning determines where the torque occurs. The P&L and the FA20Club are tuned to improve the torque dip. Ones like the JDL and Super Sprint are more top end tuned. But this is a general overview. Do some googling and you'll see there is a ton of things that go into header design.

I'd recommend Moto-East or FA20Club. If you like paying a lot more money for the same WHP gains then get a Visconti tune.

Have you been checking/clearing it with a code reader to confirm it's P0420 or P0430 and not something different?

no I have not cleared it, the first time it came on was a 420... like i was expecting... then same pattern ever since then, on for a day or two... then off for 3-4. I'm not worried about it because won't change my plates till end of 2014 and I always keep my stock parts for emissions testing :-)
