Hmm yes, reference numbers do match...but $20.74 for a 5 pack just seems too cheap. Unless "5 PAC" doesn't mean 5 pack lol.

I just replaced the Tranny oil with Motul 300 and all I can say is wow. Very noticeable smoothness on each shift. Highly recommend it.

To those of you who have enjoyed my recommendation for Pentosin, I have found something less expensive that also fits the bill, has the right specs and works great in our MT. Recently filled mine with this stuff I found at the Nissan parts counter, for like $12 and on amazon for like $19, still cheaper than pento in that you may be able to get this without having to pay shipping from a specialty vendor like with Pento(tho its also bmw branded LL- MTF2) the Elf should be able to be had at ANY nissan counter.
Its a 75w-80 GL4, with a 8.5cst

amazon asin B00ARDCYCC
enjoy!

Hi guys, I couldn't find a proper / quick way to get the Pentosyn here, so I went with Pennzoil Synchromesh. I used that oil in a k20 honda in the past and a celica with very good results.

So far, I've put 200 KM on it and while the difference it not night and day (this transmission is great stock in my opinion) it does makes a difference. The shifter lands with less effort into each gear and I need lev "revs" when I double clutch when the box is still cold. I can litteraly go into any gear at any time without reminding myself if the car is warmed up or not..I like that.

The notchyness is still there in 2nd and 3rd but that's how this box is designed it seems. The main reason for me to change the fluid was because I drive in the winter and the stock fluid was totally crap, it wouldn't let me shift into 1st until I was completely stopped and sometimes wouldn't go come out of 1st and not even want to go into 2nd.

Linky

Total cost 45$ including taxes.

So I finally had time to order this, along with 3 gallons of Idemitsu 0w-20. Since I had to basically order from Autohaus, this was a good way to get free shipping while also getting a good oil.

Doing the fluid change on simple ramps shouldn't be too big a problem right? I don't have access to a lift. Need to go find a tube that will fit my funnel...

My driveway is slightly slanted as well, will that make a difference or is the fill hole centered pretty good?

You'll need to get the front and rear of the car fairly even, as the transmission needs to be filled to the bottom of the "fill" hole on level ground. Having the car up in the front only could lead to under/over filling, depending on how close the fill hole is to the center of the transmission. Too little, and you risk transmission damage. Too much will likely lead to leaks.

Cool, I'll have the car facing down the driveway and put it on the ramps, that will get it nearly level. Just fill to bottom of fill hole right? Thanks!

Just read this whole thread...I've been having grinding issues going into 6th recently. Usually seems to be under heavy load from 3rd or 4th gear.

Thinking about making the switch to pentosin in hopes of fixing this problem. Only 4.2k miles on the car!

It'll make two-fifths of fuck'all difference. The issue isn't the oil, even though the placebo'ites will argue it to the death.
