lol, I love how there's no contact info whatsoever on that paper. Personally I would only see this one way: a.) you have him sign a legally binding contract regarding the condition of the car, so you have the option to seek damages. b.) if you offer him the car, you can follow behind him in another car, while he is driving it to and from the Prom. And c.) you would get a decent rental fee for doing this (either $$ or him offering him his prom date).

Personally I'm stingy with my cars and who drives or rides in them...but I work hard to pay for it and keep it maintained. Comes down to personal preference and your mental state of mind I think.

And then you find out after he hits something, burns out the clutch, and rear ends a Ferrari that the contract he signed isn't legally binding bc he's a minor. And depending on the state, insurance follows the car, not the driver.

However - I would be flattered and offer to give him and his date a ride to the prom, in the back seat.

It happened in south africa. He went off an embankment more than 100 yards down a steep slope into the rocks at the bottom.

I'll check for the link again.

I'd call, if it's a guy tell him you don't feel comfortable loaning your car, maybe give him a ride or two.

Female? Ask to meet up, check age, bring to prom, live like a 16 year old again.

Just read you said no already, bummmer.

I would give the kid ride to the prom, maybe pick him/her and his/her date up afterwards and drop them off in a nice cozy motel... Or buy the kid ice cream to cheer the him/her up.

That's as far as I'd go.

Better get his parents to sign because a minor cannot enter into a contract.

Better yet, just don't do it. Recommend that he ask someone with a convertible for prom.

why is everyone assuming a boy wrote the letter? (from info given to us in first post....)

and even considering such a thing is dumb as hell.....you have nothing to gain, and can find safer ways to be a good samaritan
