Ahh the mustang ...

There are times when I want one (being stuck behind 6 cars going 10 under the speed limit, when I'm in the mood to hear that sexy "glug glug glug", and when I want an eye-gasm from that electric blue they come in) ... .but overall it's just so damned bloated.

Loaded with too much technology and features that in the end just turn me off. I'm a fan of simplicity.

One is comparing apples to oranges when they compare the Camaro or Mustang to the FR-S or S2000.

Two completely different ways to solve the desire for fun.

you just have to wait until the end of the year. i found them in riverside for $24800. on one hand, it must be nice to be so close to willow springs but then you are still in barstow.

Hour and a half max to SoW.. I'd have to go down the hill to get a GT.. They have one V6 prem. here in Barstow.. They want 32k lol Victorville has 4 V6 all 29k and up.. I talked to the Barstow dealer and they won't budge.. I was checking out the new fusion

ive bent to sow once and its just too far and too early to get to the drivers meeting. im about an hour south of california speedway but that place sucks. it gets expensive for the mustang here too but truecar will negate all that. even without the model year clearance you can stil have offers for gts under 29k.

i think it would be the perfect car to compliment an frs. well if it wasnt for the fact that neither are super practical but still...

I hate that they sell them that low out here. It makes me seriously consider one and I know I would just hate seeing them everywhere!

It would be fun to mod though. I may break down and get one when the new one comes out. I really like the renders I have seen.

Young (sometimes) men with so much to prove. I can only think that as some doink on the road who decides to "race" against a car that isn't "racing" him, he has a moment as he sees his "opponent" in the rear view mirror taking an exit ramp where he thinks to himself "Wow, I'm quite the a$$hole."

I try to find solace in that.

Usually I find its the young guys in rice cars... fart cans of glory.

HAH, I am with you on the last part, they do sounds great! To much snow to get off the line quick right now though.

Most Mustang owners are not that way BUT the ones that are,are the ones you notice and they reflect badly on the rest of us. Yes I own one too, a 2011 Shelby GT500 and I own an FR-S. I love both cars for what they are and each has its own character; I wouldn't give up either one. I, like many other posters, like many different types of cars and I am fortunate enough to have been able to afford many of my dream cars from my first 1974 Subaru Coupe(loved that car although it had no power!), 75 280Z, some Toyotas and Datsuns, anda bunch of Camaros, Trans Ams, Mustangs and Corvettes.

In fact I traded a 2007 Corvette Convertible for my FR-S.The Corvette out performed it in every way but truth be told, the FR-S was way more fun on the street. To get the most out of the Corvette you have to drive it hard which is not feasible on the street (mostly J). Otherwise it was too tame. The FR-S is a joy to drive all the time. Same goes for the Shelby.

I don’t street race or behave like the OP mentions but I do like to throw the Shelby into a curve and take off from time to time. Surprise, surprise; yes it handles very well and will pull 1G, better than the FR-S although you can definately feel the weight difference. But I never pull up to any car and race anyone. I do pull up and smile and gives thumbs up to drivers of other cool cars I see no matter what the make, of course I give special recognition to BRZ/FR-S owners. After all that crowd has a lot of taste and common sense…at least most of us do J

That's incorrect; they still took billions in subsidies to keep their doors open.

Back on topic, I was in an LS machine before the FR-S, and I couldn't get a race to save my life besides ricers. Everything under the sun wants a piece now that I have no power. I let them do their own thing since I have no chance. Drag and autoX, both are fun, but drag is a lot more expensive when you're trying to overcome 4,600 pounds... My FR-S will never be a drag car.

Hah I don't mind that as much, as long as they drive fast. The worst are the people who rev the piss out of their engines trying to get in front of you before a merge, then drive slowly the rest of the way. Annoying as hell

Yeah that just happened to me today. I was like jee man why didn't you just keep that pace farther...I had to slow down farther.

As for some of the mustang drivers. They sure love to rev next to me and off they go Vroooooom pass me. Yay. As for me, I admit I do accelerate quickly off those traffic lights not all the time but from time to time. I just want to hear the engine sings within speed limits. The turns like to push it there too. A little bit of tail sliding that's all no harm and done hehehe. That's my little rant hahaha
