Its kinda sad. But in my group of friends and family I have the slowest car. They all have V6 accords or CTS . but I can brag that if I have the sexiest one

Onced the whole forced induction game gets sorted, the twins will be a force in any venue. Based on history hp in the high twos shouldn't be an issue.

Horsepower is relatively easy to fix. Heavy cars with subpar components are more difficult.

As an aside, I was surprised, but not overly, so at the car and driver LL issue results. VIR is a very fast track though. I think streets of willow better suits our cars.

Fyi i have beaten plenty of faster cars, its all about how well you drive your car, i even raced (in mexico) an rsx-s with ihe, i got an absolute perfect launch and beat him by a car up to 100 ish mph also took down a 1.8T audi a4 and a volvo T50 wagon, long story short there is absolutely no better feeling when asked "what do you have done on your car? Um nothing bone stock...that is followed by a blank stare lol

If you think mustang drivers are tools dont get me started on SRT4s haha
HEY! I resemble(ed) that remark. The only thing i liked better than shutting someone up by beating them was them having to tell their friends they got beat by a neon.

LOL Buy a mustang, Ford didn't take a bail-out.

No thanks... I'm good with my FR-S. I wouldn't buy a ford, chevy, or dodge product at all. Proprietary radio's installed. ECU runs thru the radio, remove the radio and the car won't start. I want unrestricted access to every part of my car.

there is a forced induction game in america too. its kinda easy to fix horsepower but what you cant fix is the tiny wheel base. the same things that make the frs fun for being as slow as it is will make the car unstable at higher speeds.

while i agree with the sow comment i think its worth mentioning the irony in the fact that the brz/frs went around vir faster than the st but in another test the st went around sow faster than the brz/frs

You seem pretty sharp on high.speed vehicle dynamics. So maybe I can learn something here.

. What exactly do you mean by unstable?
. How does wheelbase affect stability?
. Is it just wheelbase or does stability relate to anything else?
. What is considered "higher speeds"?

Thanks for the help. Appreciate it.

it helps to relate wheelbase width to how a person stands. when your feet are close together, it is easy to move you. this means that there is less force required to change direction and that is really fun in a car. if you are in a more ready position, it will take more force to move and you feel more balanced. there is probably some sort of fallacy in that example but i think it gets the basic point across.

the length is a similar kind of concept. the farther the wheels are apart, the longer you have as a driver to react as the rear wheels try to get ahead of the fronts.

i dont want to put a definitive threshold on "highspeed" but look at it as a continuum. as speeds increase, the time you have to react decreases. i would guess the smallest wheelbase a person can manage would be the fastest but at some point the instability will have more and more downsides. just look at the worlds fastest production cars. in the top ten, i would imagine that 4/5 are massive with gigantic wheelbases (think ford gt, pagani zonda ect.)

i should also note that these are just assumptions on my part.

It makes them feel special. Mustangs were and have always been designed with strait line speed as a priority. Lately they have been learning how to turn as well even if most people that drive them are obsessed with other drivers who aren't ambi-turners. I would be lying though if I had said I never considered a Mustang. The new 5.0 is a helluva bargain. $25k for a brand new 400+hp car that still gets half decent mileage and is incredibly easy to get more power is a hard thing to pass up. If it weren't so damn common, I'd be all over it!

If my local dealerships had a 5.0 GT for 25k I'd be driving that.. I'm not going to lie.. But I love my FRS.. And had a blast at SoW.. I like the fact that I was just a little over 5 sec off of randy's time ever at a track with the car.. I had planed on getting tires and suspension.. But I wanna see how close I can get to his time stock first

I dont know about ford, but chevy does. Had a cavalier back in 2000. Wanted to swap the radio, went to take it out and car would start. Found out later from some research online that the reason why was the ecu goes thru the radio, would have had to mount stock radio under seat and have power go to it.
