Mine just shipped. Should be here next week. I just had a dyno done with nameless axleback, downpipe, and perrin inlet pipe and filter. Hoping to be able to dyno again to see how it compares.

Looking forward to see your results. I also have the nameless downpipe and perrin inlet w/ filter. Im planning on getting nameless axleback, and thinking about this TRD intake.

Can somebody do me a favor and give me measurements of the filter? From the look of some of the photos it looks like a 04-06 Highlander HV Air Filter. Some quick research at work shows the TRD A/F for it has been discontinued. Makes me think that they are reusing those existing filters and built an air box to make it fit. I personally don't like oiled filters, and if it is the "same" filter, I would throw in an OEM one.

I installed this last night and have nothing but praise for it. Why is it not the default air intake for this car? It has 1/4 of the parts and is basically just a big plastic box so COGS must be much less than what the car shipped with. Don't have too many miles on it so far but throttle response seems better and pull above 3.5K is much better. I don't miss losing the sound tube and it makes the engine compartment look almost roomy with the empty space. No downside to replacing it.

My only downside was the loss of $365

^With the difference I hear/feel for $365, I wouldn't consider it a loss especially compared to other mods I've put my money in.

True but that comes back to my question : why isn't this the default intake for the FR-S? COGS are lower and performance is better. Only thing is that Scion can then get $365 from us in aftermarket parts.

Let's not forget that the stock intake is pretty darned good to begin with and when you put a drop-in in there it's close. They wanted to do the sound tube thing and I think it was a good idea for people who keep the car stock to get some feedback from the engine (which is probably a lot of folks). Don't get me wrong, though. I really like this intake a lot and I think it would pair awesome with a header.

Anyone know if you absolutely need the Stock Intake for a Turbo kit like the AVO Stage 1? I'd really like to do a turbo in the future, and need to find out if the TRD CAI works with it.

Because if not, I'll just skip the intake all together for now.
