They'll probably be just under $10k in 10 years, based on cars like 20 year old RX7's being $15k, 10 year old S2k's between $10k-$15k, 10 year old RSX's are about $7-$10k.

Depends, i doubt the FRS will be as rare as the RX7 and S2K. Maybe around the 7K.

I see that you live in CA so a Subaru 2.5 RS would be a little overkill. The snow in NY makes 4wd Subarus a must. An i love mine.

If i were you i would daily drive a Nissan 240sx. Cheap and fun

That is a bit relative. However, $7k is possible, yes and it will apply to many used cars.

My objection t this plan making sense is that just about every part of a vehicle that bolts on to the chassis is on borrowed time after ~80k miles or so. Stuff you don't need to worry about on a 40k mile car can go at any minute as you get closer to 100k, like the alternator, starter, clutch, brakes, hoses, bushings, dampers.... All can be fixed, but the costs add up. It's also not practical for a dd to be more likely to break down.

For a daily? I'd go with the Integra. Honda motors are bulletproof and the b18s in those cars are totally badass.

Inflation. Also in my humble opinion the 86 is a bit more desirable than the RSX, definitely less so than the S2k and RX7, they were just benchmark examples of "affordable" Japanese sports cars.

Either way I think we're about 20 years away from them being "cheap" (as in affordable on a part time job) and by then the market may have morphed into something unknowable, no point in guessing value that far out.

I had a 94 civic hatchback. Every time I drove it I missed the FRS so much, so I ended up selling it. Now I wish I hadn't. Poor FRS has gotten beat up with dings recently :/

Do you really want to drive a beater for commute? I mean what about comfort and running into issues or w.e

If you're buying used, get the Hando for sure. My RSX is about to hit 170k and the engine is still very strong(90%+ being conservative). Still gets the exact same mpg as day one...but my suspension is all borked and needs replacement.

Every nut and bolt on the car is original, only oil and filter changes over the 10 years.(well, not counting an O2 sensor that went bad around 30k, fixed under warranty).

I say go for the bike. You live in Cali so you can use it most of the months out of the year. You'll save on gas, they are fast and you wont have trouble finding parking.
