I substituted smoking with eating those wafer rolls, felt like a cigarette in hand. Then noticed I was getting fat, starting exercising and joined a soccer club. Quit wafers, quit smoking.

Then about the last couple of months of each semester, stress builds up and I start smoking again, then I buy wafers, then I workout. All. Over. Again.

I smoked for almost 10 years. One day i just decided enough was enough. I made up my mind that i didn't smoke anymore, so i didn't.

I had tried to quit numerous times before, but my heart wasnt in it so i always went back. That's all there is to it really. Make up your mind about whether you want to quit or not.

As someone who quit out of fear.....I don't suggest you wait for your first cardiac event to inspire you.

So....I did find that the Nicotine patch was helpful for me.

Also...I set a couple of goals for myself (reasonable attainable goals being the catch)....The first one being that I would not conisder myself a "non smoker" unitl I was 1 year smoke free. Psychologically I felt the term "Ex Smoker" was dirty and shameful....and that polarized me further to quit.

Also....as a reward....I got my teeth whitened after a year smoke free.

there is a theory that it will take 1000 punches for someone to quit smoking... Ask your friends to punch you in the arm everytime you smoke.

I think the hardest part of quiting an addiction is the will to do it.

When I was in the military I love to smoke socially with my friends and going out to drink with the marines didnt help the habit. It really killed me during physical tests anyways that was almost ten years ago now here's how I quit smoking, I used to smoke camel so it was kind of bad. Now I'm a skinny guy that should eat more so this kinda helped me but if your already overweight or at the border line I might not recommend this.

What I did was when I started quitting when ever I get a craving I think about something I wwanted to eat, so I just eat it it could of been candy bars, a steak, even something I wanted to drink. Then after a while since it was heavy on the pocket and timely I started grouping it into meals three times a day a fourth one maybe to help with hunger from time to time. Anyways eventually I ended up just eating regular breakfast lunch and dinner and snacking onces or twice a day (brunch with friends or an ice cream in the afternoon) then in the end I was just having my meals and eating healthy habits.

I haven't smoked anything for ten years, this process took me about realistically two months to quit since one month in and I still wanted to smoke from time to time, I didn't though had a candy bar instead. If you need to use a patch during this path inidnt need it you might since you probably smoke a much higher volume than I did.

Now today I don't drink or smoke and I'm pretty happy about it. Occasionally I will enjoy a glass of scotch onces a couple of months but I've been dry for three years and I haven't smoked in ten, so I hope this helps you.

When I quit smoking, I started running. It helped focus my energy. It was really difficult for me to quit, I relapsed a few times. I entered a small 5k race, which gave me the motivation to keep running. I would feel guilty if I "snuck" a smoke. Because I felt like it was slowing me down.

I feel that it is easier to replace one habit with another. So I chose a good habit. I still run, and I still don't smoke.

Good luck!

Started smoking when I was 17 and during the street races, I would easily go through a pack. I quit cold turkey 6 yrs ago b/c I hated how my clothes, my fingers and how my car smelled from the cigarettes.

It's all in your head and if you want to quit, take the pack you have throw it away, stomp on it, break them up. Think about the negatives, set some reasonable goals like, 2 weeks, 1 month, 3 month, 6 months and change up your routine.

I still smoke shisha here and there with my Arab friends and it doesn't trigger me back to cigarettes. Good luck man! :happy0180:

Funny what you said about stomp on them and break them up. I was at work 2 days ago with a quarter pack on me (just in case I was going to have a melt down and needed one) and I was about to give in and just HAVE ONE, well instead some weird feeling came over me and I just simply threw them in the trash can. Feels good man!

Start vaping (e-cigarettes).

I've been wanting to quit for a long time, but the the thing is that I liked to smoke. I didn't like smell or how it made my body/throat feel afterwards, but I loved how relaxing and social smoking was. Once I started vaping, I completely cut out cigarettes with ease and I cannot even touch a cigarette now.

Invest in a good PV(personal vaporizer) and it will make you not even want a cigarette anymore. Keep in mind a good PV is crucial, not one of those crap Blu e-cigs you can get at walgreens.

PM me or quote me so I get the notification if you have any questions and I'll be more than happy to answer them.

That's awesome man!! If you have to tell yourself, "I'll quit after this pack, or I'll save this pack just in case" you'll never quit. Good job, that's a huge hurdle in which you've already accomplished.

I've had buddies get so pissed at me when we hang out because if you leave your pack out, I'll grab it and crush it or sneak up and flick it when they're holding it. They'll thank me later.

I have accepted the fact that smoking will end my life sooner rather than later. But I will go with a smile on my face. I enjoy it to much.

I smoke Hookah 6 hours a day, and I vape at work.
