Anyone Else Considering an Automatic FR-S?

Not to rain on your parade or to start a manual vs auto war, but whoever is considering an auto for this car, you might want to check these reviews from people who drove both:

Personally for me, I will go with the manual because buying any sports car with an auto is just . Even if it's faster (which we don't know yet), it's just far less fun (IMO)

Personally for me, I will go with the manual because buying any sports car with an auto is just . Even if it's faster (which we don't know yet), it's just far less fun (IMO)

sorry if it rubbed some of you the wrong way, but those are not my words, I just pulled them out of reviews by people's whose job it is to review cars. You can agree or disagree with them. And yes, I enjoy manuals, so that's what I will be buying. You can do what you want, it's your money and your car. I just wanted to let people know what the reviews so far have said in regards to both types of transmissions.

yes. but one must realize that the reviews themselves are full of bias. any review that dismisses the AT right away, you know it's just going to be full of the same smug enthusiast snobbery that is common on forums like these. at what point does personal opinion get in the way of reporting facts?

the best two sports cars i've ever driven were both paddle shifts.. absolutely amazing bits of kit (Ferrari 360 Spyder i hired for 24hrs, and a Lambo Gallardo on track)
The Fez was great around town and motorways (gave me such a buzz quick changing with the paddles!, and the Lambo absolute fun on the track (allowing me to concentrate fully on the lap rather than the shifts).

I enjoy my manuals, in fact ive never owned/wanted to own an auto before.. and really do think the gearbox is fantastic on my '06 Honda S2000.. (if a little notchy).. which i think this GT86/BRZ gearbox has been compared to (?)
For me though i have to have this car as an auto.. but i can certainly see why if you're used to auto's why you may very well want to have this model with a MT .. !!

each to their own, i just cant wait to sit in that low slung 86, blip the paddle and zip off :happy0180:

I love how you guys are getting so defensive when my post is full of "personally", "in my opinion", "buy what you want" and quotes from reviews of the car. Forgive me for sharing that the majority of reviews say the manual is the one to get. Again, you don't have to agree with that and no one is telling you to.

Oh and I will let Ferrari and Lamborghini know you are comparing a $25k car to theirs. The gearboxes in those are probably worth more than the FR-S/BRZ. And even if I had the $ for one of the former two, I still wouldn't buy it with paddle shifters, but that's just me.

As my first sentence stated, I am not here to start another mindless debate of manual vs auto. Plenty of those on other crappy forums. If you feel the need to justify your choice to other internet cowboys, please do it somewhere else. I think it's perfectly fine to agree to disagree.
