We are testing this on One Lap and will be making a couple changes to it. We will try to have an option for trailer hitch, tire tote, and bike rack.

Once we have a finished product, we will have this for sale on our website.

Let me throw in my 2 cents. I'm no automotive expert, but my step dad and mom used to cruise on a Gold Wing motorcycle pulling a 300 lb trailer. If a motorcycle can pull a small trailer, I'm sure our BRZ can -- as long as the hitch is secure to the frame, and the tongue weight is kept to a reasonable amount.

Color me interested. Timeframe? Group buy?

Early to late June, off the top of my head. One Lap this week has Jeremy kind of busy.....and then 86 expo in Vegas will have us both out for a week....

I, believe, we will start with a group buy of 5 to get things started. No estimates on pricing, at the moment.

Will have a thread up on it soon and will try to make sure to bump this thread.

Cheers!

On the idea for the IKEA bag. What about a box of leaf lawn bags? A 55 gallon bag should fit one tire just fine. Double up if you think it will tear.

Thanks!

If it's reasonably priced and is compatible with a typical class I (1.25" receiver) bike rack, then I'm in for the group buy. I'll watch for the announcement.

As far as safety goes, I'm assuming it'd be fine to sandwich it between the chassis and crash beam, but any concerns over removing the crash beam? (that sounds iffy)
Would handle that no problem. Personally, I would be keeping the crash beam but it wouldn't be too terrible if it were removed. The receiver would king of act as a crash beam itself but it would be pretty solid and not crumple like the factory beam is designed to do.

Not unless your car is slammed. I'm on RCE yellows and will have plenty of room.

I want a class 1 receiver just to carry my 2 bikes - roof racks scratch the roof and are risky around drive-thrus and garages, and the trunk opening is a touch to small without having to remove handlebars etc. With the Jetta, it was a 2 min process to put the rack on, and load the bike.

My FS-R got measured up for a receiver hitch yesterday by a fabricator. I am going to have the receiver come out straight back. I had Thad hidden hitch by Flyin Miata on my Miata, but I like being able to use standard receivers. I have been towing light loads with sports cars since 1985 I have had no issues. I replaced one clutch on my 89 RX-7 that used to tow my 82 IT'S RX-7. It had 173,000 miles on it. If we are comfortable with it being strong enough, we also may build some to sell. If that becomes the case, I will become a vendor on this Forum only and do some group buys.
