Ive tried threading while pushing down on the clutch pedal with my other hand but it didnt help at all

I had to pulsate my clutch petal in order to turn the rod. It only turned as I press down on the petal, so I kept pressing and releasing as I turned the rod.

I think I hear a metal rattling sound now at low RPM (<1.5k). Does anyone have any ideas what it could be?

Edit: I meant between 1.5 and 2k.

Is the sound coming from inside the cabin or outside the firewall? Did you re-tighten the nuts after adjustment? How far down did you adjust the clutch pedal?

I can try it again but I did it several times yesterday with no luck. It doesnt help that I can get a firm grip with all of that grease either.

Is there a tool like a plier that I can use to get a firmer grip?

Plier will work on the non-threaded section of the pipe.

I had adjusted my clutch grab lower while stock and had to readjust it up yesterday after installing FX300 clutch. It was basically grabbing exactly as soon as I lifted the foot off the floor.

Not sure where it's coming from. I think it went away. I adjusted the clutch about the same height or slightly lower than the brake petal. I "think" it might be from the elbow area where the grease is, but I'm not sure. I just pushed it to one side and I don't think I hear it anymore.

I did this tonight since I didn't have anything going on. I was weary on doing this as I figured my clutch was fine even though I didn't care for the long travel. All I have to say is after driving to the grocery store after doing this (mine is just below brake pedal height), my shifting is much smoother. I'm not jerking my head anymore from all the pedal travel and trying to catch the clutch grab point. Now with the pedal closer to the floor with less travel, my shifts are much smoother and I'm sure passengers will appreciate my driving more now. Thank you for his mod. It's one of my favorites, plus it's free if you have a 12mm and 14mm wrench.

Definitely telling all the PDX area guys and adding it to my build thread.

Just did this in the garage. Went even with the brake and all I can say is wow. Got rid of my one complaint about the car. After a test drive I can honestly say that the OP was correct. Ever so slightly below the brake is damn near perfect. I took it out and put it through the paces. I look at all adjustments like a penis tho. When your done messing with it ya gotta take it out and beat on it for a few. Thanks for the info on this!!

I haven't done this mod yet... My car isn't a week old yet and I'm still getting used to it.. One thing concerns me.. There needs to be some free play in the pedal as it is adjusted from the factory.. Otherwise the throw out bearing is engaged which will cause premature wear..
Just as you are not supposed to put your foot lightly on the clutch say when your at a light in neutral... Cause that slight pressure causes wear on the throw out bearing.. So if you are taking up slack by this adjustment .. You might be actually causing the throw out bearing to be engaged..
Again.. I don't know the "feel" or have any hands on with this car... Just know how it works and what could be happening if adjusted incorrectly..

When you adjust the clutch pedal, you're also adjusting the engagement point. This will have no effect on the throw out bearing if done right.

You'll see in the procedure that you'll have to do this in order to raise or lower the clutch pedal anyway.

I just did this mod.. Took literally 10 minutes..
I got the clutch pedal level with the brake pedal..
There is enough clutch play to where taking up the slack will
Not affect pressure on the clutch assembly. It grabs lower now
And is a bit easier to drive smoothly.. Like others have stated..
Thanks to the OP for getting this started and for the write up and vid.
I also referenced the manual available on here before I started..
My first mod within 5 days of ownership.

After you unscrew the nut with the 12mm wrench, make sure you unscrew it even further by hand. When you adjust the rod, you end up moving the nut back towards the bracket, effectively tightening it up again. If you back it off by hand by a generous amount, you should be able to twist the rod with some pulsing of the clutch pedal.

Thanks Koji, and Jon Harrington for your video on youtube. I played with the position of mine, I ended up adjusting it 4 times before I found my personal sweet spot. At first I set it a bit under the brake pedal (~3-4mm), but found it strange that the throw of the clutch was so short. Then I moved it too far above the brake, then set it to even with the brake, and finally settled on just a hair under the brake pedal. Feels very natural now, and I don't tend to over-rev at stops.

Took a lot longer than 10 mins but man was it worth it.

I have mine sitting just a few mm above the brake pedal.

A tip for the RHD drivers out there. There is a white plastic/rubber stopper that gets in the way of the 12mm nut. To make it easy, pinch the back of the stopper and pop it off. That way you have enough space to loosen or tighten the nut.
