The best excuse I can find for not buying these right now is that they only come in 18xtoowide for my use.

17x8, square setup and make mine the magnesium black (which they offer in other sizes), with offset to match/slightly widen the track of the OEM setup and no concern for hellaanything w.r.t. 'stance'.

If I really like them I will have them powdercoated what I really want. If not, I will put them on the Camry wagon.

Silver 17x9 +30 and I'm in.

Even if they aren't silver but come in that size, I'm in. I can always re-finish the wheels later

Question though... If for some reason, one of the wheels got damaged and we needed to replace one, would they be able to replace ONE or would we have to get another 40 orders to order more in those sizes?

@Wheeldude -

Can you confirm that we need 40 orders (=160 wheels) to get this wheel in another size (17x8...?) as said in the first post of this thread? Or, is it just 10 orders (=40 wheels)

I thought (and not sure where I got this from) that Rota requires 10 orders for a custom job.

thanks for your interest everyone! the reason we need a GB here is to prove that the mold is worth producing. Once the mold(s) are produced it's my understanding that they can produce more wheels as needed. We are working together to get this wheel made in a 17 in the first place! after that, anyone should be able to buy them from wheeldude. (wheeldude please correct me if I'm messing anything up here)

Also, I'd really like to consolidate our request to a 17x8 or 17x9. It may be a situation where we compromise, or we get nothing at all.

I would personally prefer a 17x8, but would do either.

Thanks
MIke

Not trying to hate, but it should be clarified that these are not watanabe's, they are rota's copy of the watanabe style.

It's not mentioned anywhere, and it does need to be.

The title says it all, where else would you read Watanabe and Rota in the same sentence, we're not that simple.. It's also mentioned in the second sentence of the first post.

Could do a poll and see which size gets more interest.

I would prefer 17x9 because of the fitment and because of the fact that I could still run a smaller size tire now while the car has stock power, and be able to up tire size down the road when the car gets a turbo setup.

Instead of trying to stimulate 40x intellectual property frauds how about you buy the originals?

An 8.5 inch rim would be perfect for a 235/40/17 which is very close to factory outside diameter, just a fraction smaller.

I'd be interested in the weight and shipping to b4e3l4, Canada.

Legit 17x9 Watanabe's are $740 a piece. Pfft noy happening. I had over $7,000 worth of wheels for my old S14 and I swore I would never do that again.

This would be another cheap set to add to the XXR's I got purely to use to slide with. I'll get legit wheels for DD but not spending $3,000+ on one set of wheels on a $25k Toyota. I'll probably get a set of Gram Lights 57Ds. Between that, I will have spent $3,000 and gotten two sets of track/beater wheels and one nice set for daily use.

Sounds better to me seeing how I'm not rolling in money and I'd rather spend he extra money on driving and having fun

These rims are replicas and that is clearly stated in first post.

Original watanabes are magnesium and easy to bend. Many of us need something that can be replaced easily/cheaply.

Per my original post, please post if you are interested in buying. This is an interest list, not a moral debate on replicas.
