Same old Gem was already banned and given a second chance remember? You can expect he had a short leash. Also, none of us know what corrections have been done by the moderators to those posts to remove offending stuff, so the whole original post is not what we are looking at right now.

Helping this thread "Rise from it's grave" (altered beast reference there).

So, I talked to Gem on wednesday but I was really busy and didn't get a chance to write in this thread about a few things we talked about. I also tried pm and convince Hachi to rescind his banning and tread it more like a temporary suspension for a warning(as you can see, no such luck).

He finally got his car strapped onto a dyno on wednesday and had both good and bad news for me.

The bad news is that with his 12psi pulley, he gained a vacuum leak, and it borked all of his numbers past 5k.

The good news is that the header made power. His conservative guess is that it was 7-10hp in the low end of the rpm range, and judging from that, he projected 10-15hp over his previous peak putting him in the 270 range on 91 octane fuel.

He really felt that the key though was the additional torque. In his words "the car is ready to go at any time".

He also told me that he's definitely buying the header.

Due to the vacuum leak, he packed it up early, and headed home. He will however be back once everything is sorted out later on (no eta for a return to the dyno), but I will let everyone know if I get any new information.

Um, why didn't he just fix the vacuum leak? This kit has 1 vacuum line and it's very easily accessible.

And did the header make power on the dyno, or not? You can't say it did, just based on Gem's guesses. LOL

Based on the wording it sounds like a boost leak not a vacuum leak... if it was leakin at one of the Intercooler couplers, you would have to pull the bumper to repair... and if you are strapped down and paying for dyno time to do it it gets expensive real quick.

Yea I can see that, although he has told me a few times he can "rip the entire kit off and go back to stock in about an hour" LOL.
@Hawaiian, did he use the same dyno as before?

I'm gonna speculate that with boost the gains will be noticeably higher uncatted than catted, up top anyway..

I am not sure why everyone is so obsessed with him or his dyno, clearly he has parts we all don't and if they didn't make power I doubt they would be on his car. Whatever power his car makes, it's more than mine
on Facebook I found this and some posts about his setup now with a boost control box, sounds like guy is having fun making power

Anyone else know what else is going on with this build? More info would be nice
Speedy, I only said it because he's used 3 different dynos so far. I would be excited to see comparable results!

That and I've heard from other vendors that sell the SC kit that they've seen a couple headers not make any additional power. So if this one does, maybe they found the right formula

The hose that popped off in the video looks like a bugger to clamp and reattach. I followed it with a small mirror and it makes a 90 turn up into the intake. What boost was he running when this blew off? I think everyone who is boosted will want to know the psi it let go...

Yes, It was a boost leak.

He could read the dyno up until 5k, but when the car went into boost it dropped off.

He also was at the same dyno as his last few runs.

I'm just paraphrasing here so don't shoot the messenger.

He was running a 12psi pulley.
