Saw you there as well, great looking car! Hope the AutoX was fun... it was odd to hear loud sliding and tire squealing all day. I kept forgetting you guys were over there and thinking there was about to be a crash on track!

I'm going to try to bring the car to VIR in July when I'm there for the Ultimate Track Car Challenge (driving something else... with quite a bit more horsepower)

Current record at VIR is a 2:14.something in TTD... pretty damn quick around there for a D car! It was set in an MX-5. Probably a Playboy Cup car, but I have no idea what mods it had above and beyond the MX-5 Playboy Cup spec, if anything - the Florida region posts everyone's spec sheets if you're a competitor, but nobody else does that, that I'm aware of.

As for OLOA... not this year. I wish. Leh's gonna be tough to beat in that new GTR. I've done the event twice, but I'd love to give it another go in a car capable of challenging for an overall win. So, basically, a GTR.

Hey remember, Skeen put down a 2.24 bone stock.. and i've heard of someone else putting in a 2.17 on 265's and springs so 2.13 for your setup is in reach i think.

Have you experience any odd behaviors on track i.e. ice mode, CELs, etc. ?

Side mirrors folded in for maximum aero?

Nice lap!

I've found my GoPro also doesn't deal with the light contrast from the sun well when mounted to the back window. Hard to see the track when the sun is beaming down on the dash, but I've learned enough from my Forza laps at Sebring to know where you are on track.

Break all the records now before they realize they made a huge mistake putting this car in TTD

Actually had a conversation with the NASA officials about this... I really believe it is a solid D car and with the mods I've done, it makes it a very good D car. But remember - I came in 2nd at nationals last year. I didn't win. It's not an over-dog in the class. It can be beat, but I'm just trying to show the true capabilities of it. I've been totally transparent with the officials and have given them every opportunity to look the car over, weigh it, Dyno it, GPS it, etc.

At Sebring I have 1000+ laps. It's my home track. I know the place pretty well and the history of TT competition in FL isn't necessarily as strong as in other regions. I have a friend building a TTD civic for later this year - he will be strong competition as his car will make far more power than mine.

At Roebling, the car is pretty damn near the perfect setup for that track. I expected to be pretty fast there (though not a 20.2... Now I want a 19!).

If the car gets bumped up a class it won't be competitive and in my opinion they would only hurt themselves by discouraging people to run the car. For example to TTC record at Sebring is a 2:26. No way could this car touch that time without Forced induction. D is where the car belongs.

My real hope is that people see what the car can do and decide to come out and start competing for themselves!

Yeah, I have to hang it off the rear window and it just doesn't adjust we'll. I think DaveRor has the right idea with putting it on the outside driver side rear window. That way you get a very clear view of the track and the drivers hands. I'll try that angle next time.

I have not experienced Ice mode in this car.

I have felt the EBD working under my feet and I have also driven with the pedal dance method. I do notice a difference with everything turned off (pedal dance) but I've only done it once, so I'll need to try it again to give my full thoughts.

This lap was set without the pedal dance method used but traction completely off by holding the button.

My comment was half-sarcasm, but the info is good as it's one thing I've been curious about. I'm not terribly familiar with NASA TT, but few friends who do it have been wondering if it would need reclass. Good to know it's going to be a very competitive car

Jon,
I'm interested in your setup for TTD. I used to run a 2001 Corvette Z06 in TTA but totaled it at Roebling in 2012. I picked up a 2013 BRZ recently and was thinking about getting back into time trails and perhaps autocross. I don't want to make the car into a complete race car (the C5Z was). Setup advice?

I can not tell you anything about setup advice, but what I can tell you is where Jon spent his points. I got this information from the NASA TT forums.

225 A6 +13
TTD allows 245 as standard running 225 -4
Tires : +9
Exhaust: +2
Suspension: +5 (BC Coils)
Tune: E85 @ 181 hp and 140 tq (It was somewhere around these numbers. I am pulling from memory on this one)

Total 16 of 19 allowed.

I hope this helped.

Thanks Stevo. Looking at the classification for the BRZ there seems to a lot of room to either reduce weight or add power. Min comp weight is 2775 and although I've yet to weigh my car I'm pretty sure I'll be substantially over that. P

Back from the Dead.... FWIW we are not running a GTR this year.
