Alex Manrique: This is my car. it has a decent start but still needs some key things. so far it has things like coilovers, camber plates, strut tower bar, front sway bar, rims, tires, intake, most of the exhaust, crank pulley. big things missing still are header and ecu tune. I haven't really done anything as far as weight reduction yet either besides exhaust. also I'm sure an aftermarket diff wouldn't hurt it either but the stock torsion seems to work pretty well.

Looking forward to finishing the prep on my car and an event with consistent track conditions. Hoping to make the WAI event in a couple of weeks.
I am indeed on this forum. here is the link to my build page. If you have any questions, just let me know!

Thank you Alex! Lance definitely pushes me to the limit. Every time I come to Milwaukee the pressure and competition feels like I am at Nationals. I love our region and the awesome talent! We have had some epic battles for sure.

Same to you! Nice job edging me out on PAX by .026! Where you on the Rivals this past weekend? Have you tried them?

thanks.. no.. Z2's..trying to make a educated guess as to which is faster.. seems like the RX8's at Dover were on BFG's.. and the fastest STR time was on Dunlops..
I like the contingency program that the BFG offers.. we'll see as the Z2's wear if they get faster like the old ones did.. so far about 40 runs on the Z2's.. from Evo school/ Dixie and yesterday..

I had heard the Rivals come in after about 40 runs as well. Don't the Z1's fall off quite a bit after about 4/32nd's? That was mentioned earlier in this thread. Do the Z2's have the same problem?

I know my gas mileage has dropped about 2 MPG between the Rivals at full tread depth and my Z1's at 4/32nd's front and 3/32nd's rear. I was thinking that was most likely due to me being in the harder compound on the Z1 and less rolling resistance.

It was a toss up at Dover. Half of the course was grippy and half was very bumpy/gravelly. My codriver and I (RTR) ran first and barely got the Dunlops hot by our third runs both days. STR, STU, and STX definitely had a lot more heat in their tires during the afternoon heats, but we thought the course was also meh.

1st heat is never ideal conditions. But this is the 3rd time in the not so distant past I've run 1st heat and was fine. Blytheville Shootout when it was cold as hell last fall, Dixie, and now Dover. The worst I indexed for any of those was 9th---on A6's.

I sit back and chuckle over this street tire arguing, the fact is there is a much bigger war on there than anywhere, and what's worse there is no tire with a clear advantage. I've not driven every tire on every car. But I have driven every one of the "street" tires except the RE11A, and a lot of cars, and I have my preferences.

Did you have a co-driver, a.k.a tire warmer? Do you use tire blankets?

For those who have Rival and/or RE-11A (or RE-11) experience, which do you prefer for DD and autocross use on sometimes wet pavement like we get here in the Pacific Northwest?

Tirerack data shows the RE-11A to be the best wet tire in it's category, but doesn't have test results posted for the Rival. Comparing tread patterns makes the RE-!!'s look potentially better for channeling water away but compounds make a difference, too.

I'm leaning toward the Rivals for their 3 lb. weight advantage over the RE-11's in 225/45-17 size, but will give priority to wet grip.

Any advice appreciated, thanks.

I ran RE-11's for a couple years for both DD and autox use and was very competitive on them. They are a great wet tire and very good in the dry. I would prefer them to Rival for DD use. I have not competed on the Rival in the wet but for DD (very spirited driving) in the wet the RE-11 was definitely better.

The Rival definitely needs more heat in them than the RE-11. With some heat in them and dry autox conditions, I definitely prefer the Rival.

Have not tried the RE-11A.
