True of the GT86 only, not the FR-S - see the FR-S press kit photos (very high res) at scionfrs.com. They clearly show white tach lettering with a black border on silver/grey background.

maybe the gauge cluster backlight was maxed out making it look gray?

They made it that way, so when you make this car track for drift car, you don't have to cut it.
You never have to cut center console panels for removal in any car I've ever seen. The fitment does look poor but I'm not sure you'd even notice it in person.

Sorry, I didn't notice that part. Actually, it was somewhat dark & couldn't see the details of inside other than few stuff... & I'm just betting that's just a defect or something, cuz if you look at other pics (BRZ & Toyo ver, it doesn't have that)

And preproduction. I agree, nothing to worry about

Are you guys smoking crack? Drifting Only? A Scion owns the FWD track record at 20 or so tracks across the US. It has back to back Endurance champion ships. It has been the Time Attack FWD champion for like 4 damn years (basically since they have been in production for the tC). Where does these dudes get their information from? They have money in Pro Drag racing with one of the first ever FWD cars to run 6sec 1/4 mile. Drifting isn't even close to being the most championship won event for Scion. It's just very exciting to watch, so people think that's all that they have going on...

At the same time, the tC is what launched their Motorsports side of them. So FWD economy or not, it owns a LOT of Motorsports championships and track records.

Just as much as any other Unlimited class car it runs against. The block is the heart. If it didn't have that no one say it was a Scion. Their new 2011 tC is a step back sorta speak to maintain as much OEM in the car. The 2011 FWing 2.0 is closer to the facorty car than the original FWing, even though that one also has a factory motor.

Many forget it broke records long before it adorned the widebody and dual wing setup.

PS...FWing 2.0 is re-breaking the records Fwing already set.

Good luck to do the same thing with dezod, turbonetics.. etc etc etc.:happy0180:

Some people like to play it safe and just get factory accessories and keep the warranty
Go tell that to the people who's S/C took a dump and had a hard time getting warranty coverage. Or ask the guy who got his S/C replaced like 5 times if he would rather have a turbo setup.

So, I commented on that FastLane Daily video and Leo replied. Then while I was replying back, a light bulb went off!

Here are my observations:

-Subaru states it's demographic is older and a bit more mature, so it price for the BRZ reflects that.

-Comments about the FR-S interior being inadequate and how people want to switch to BRZ due to the better interior indicates that BRZ owners by and large will be people who care about amenities from the factory

-Subaru owners will be older for the most part, and will be daily driving for the most part.

-Scion owners will be younger and contain a larger % of the "boy racer". Daily drivers who are weekend warriors.

My Conclusion

-That when I go to the local track, or when I pop open a magazine.....FR-S drivers/owners will by and large OutNumber BRZ drivers at the race track. They will be younger, more apt to driving faster (be it good or bad, cause lets face it, there probably will be a higher % of immature people behind the wheel of the FR-S). The Scion guys like myself that don't give a crap about having the missing amenities are either A) Prefer to just do aftermarket mods to the interior and accept the HVAC layout or B) Care about taking it to the track more than most and the non standard Features that come in the BRZ don't matter to them.

BRZ owners/followers care about the interior way to much to make up the majority at the track based on the fact that they DO care about dual climate control, navi, heated seats...etc. Cause who in their right mind is buying a freaking loaded car as their track car? "Oh yeah, I'm at the track so I need to keep my ass warm, and have my Navi tell me which turn is coming up next at the track". No Body. No, you buy a bare bones car to be your track car. No Body at the AutoX I've ever seen was taking their fully loaded luxury version of said car out. And if it did come with that stuff...it's now all disappeared cause they got serious and started gutting the car like a real enthusiast would.

And I find it funny that the BRZ fans are wanting the FR-S front end more than FR-S owners are wanting the BRZ's headlights. They recognize that the FR-S is cosmetically more appealing, but they turn to the Subaru because they value the interior standard features more. What would happen IF Scion decided that there would be a Premium FR-S and it came with the same interior setup? Umm...they would put a hole in Subaru's buying demographic that's what. Go look at the Pole on here of the FR-S vs BRZ...it's a land slide in favor of FR-S. So, if the FR-S had the same interior...who would buy the BRZ? There are some who are straight brand loyal, but I don't think there are enough that it would make it fair to Subaru if FR-S came with a Premium setup standard. The BRZ sales would be trailing the FR-S...at least based on the Pole on this site it would.

It Seems like the scion version will get the white tach according to this pic of the LA reveal.

this is the US-Spec. Notice the MPH on the left.
