The FRS interior looks straight out of 1990s rental car.

For me, it comes down to the final price and what all is standard with each car. Another thing to think about is where Subaru's pricing is negotiable, Scion goes off that "pure price" crap. That being said, if the MSRP between the two is a slight $1,500 or so(Subaru being more expensive), realistically, you can get the Subaru for the same price of the Scion.

To add to that, how often do you see a middle aged man or women driving a Scion TC? Now how many do you see driving a Subaru Impreza? What would you think when you pull up to a stoplight in your brand new FRS and a 40 some odd year old woman pulls up in one right next to you?? haha! Now, I'm not saying that's bad or anything, but it's something that I can easily picture and I'm willing to place money that there's somebody on this forum who would do a doubletake when it happens to them.

Looks different to me with the 86 being more pointy and BRZ has it slope down.

I like the the radiator opening on the 86 better, and the sharper creases inboard of the headlights on the bumper. I also like the silver tach. However, the I much prefer the BRZ's silver dash trim. Honestly, beyond that minor interior color differences and front bumper, the cars seem substantially the same. See also, the Saab 9-2x Aero and the Impreza WRX Wagon.

Unfortunately, I doubt that the FR-S is going to be getting optional push button start, heated leather seats, or optional HIDs. I have become accustomed to those things and would like to have them if they're available. The HVAC controls on the BRZ Limited are also just so much cleaner. I'm not even a huge fan of automatic climate control. I've had it on most of my cars and I would rather command the HVAC by feel of the air coming out of the vents than some arbitrary number. However, the FR-S and base model HVAC controls look like they came out of a children's Powerwheel. Pass.

BRZ Limited for me, for now. When I get to see an options list for the FR-S, that may change.

nice PS job, but that makes BRZ look like an overweight old man...

I can't decide between those two cars and I think my decision will come after i test drive them.

I'm digging the BRZ headlights. The light strip around the main lamp looks like an angry eyebrow and probably makes the car look wider than it is at night by highlighting the outer edges of the headlamps. Wish we had some pictures of it lit. Anyone know if they're LED?

At least the FR-S interior can be optioned-up to improve it, you're stuck with the BRZ dental dam.
