It might be worth getting someone who has driven a manual transmission for a long time to actually sit with you in the car or better yet drive it with you so they can give you feedback based on feel. But most of the responses in this thread should have you covered already.

Learned manual on this car too Stalled a lot in the beginning because I could not get used to the large free play on the clutch, but I'm pretty used to it now, but I'll probably still do the clutch adjustment since most say it feels even better even if you are used to large free play.

Question,

If you about to come to a stop at a light, and neutral'd but still rolling 8-10mph to your stopping point, and the light turns green, would you rev match to continue in 2nd or start from 1st? I've had this happen a few times, and I usually rev a bit and the shifter loves sliding into 2nd, and it's very hard to get it into first. My friend told me I should go into 1st though, else I'd grind my clutch a lot since there is a bit of riding the clutch before fully letting go of clutch into 2nd.

If you're coming to a stop at 8-10 mph, depress the clutch, shift into 2nd, slowly let go of the clutch as you rev match.

2nd gear is made to drive off once your car is in motion from 1st. If you panic you can even use 2nd to start your car off from a stop, but it's not recommended of course =).
