Industrial areas and churches seem to be places with lots of big, open lots that aren't inhabited after hours. We used to "race" in high school in an industrial park and were never bothered. I still haven't found anywhere I'd feel comfortable hanging out for any length of time though...generally just a few quick passes and on my way.
I went to check this area out after work and found this spot http://goo.gl/maps/Ge6bT (Johnson Controls), building appears to be unused (no cars or anything). Did a few passes and can confirm that drifting is hilariously terrifying and a total blast.

I found a decent lot just scouring google maps over A2. Went there and it was covered in small stone pebbles, which meant no grip at all. Could not hold any kind of drift in any way, and just spun out completely. Didn't want to eat my tires up, so I was only there for about 2 minutes - if that.

Spent a few days on Michelin PSS and got a nagging feeling that the car is a lot more enjoyable and playful on OEM wheels/tires....
Which is sad, since I spent some $$$ on those rims and those tires.
Sigh.

Spotted a black FR-S in the Meijer parking lot in Woodhaven by Allen and West around 10am this morning. Looked like the guy was leaving so I didn't get to talk to him, was it anyone from here?

This Friday I saw about four different car groups, subbie WRX STI, GM SS, mustangs, and a nissan group with a GTR all in different parking lots on Woodward with a bunch of nice cars driving all over. We need to pick a parking lot on Woodward and set up camp on Friday night and just hang out and watch the cars.

I have, it is pretty easy just make sure you get the right size bulbs. I believe they are H11. Definitely something you can do yourself with no tools just a few zip ties and plugging wires in.

I am always willing to take passengers around the track if you wanted to do a ride along.

What oil do you guys use in your car? I heard that toyota dealers have the oem oil at about $5 a quart if you buy a case of 12. The subaru dealer quoted me $12 a quart. In the past, I've always just grabbed the correct weight of whatever was on sale but I want to do everything the right way with this car.

That would be awesome! I'm planning on taking my car out at the track day in august but I would appreciate any track time i can get, even as a spectator. My racing experiance is limited to go karting so I want to be as prepared as I can.
