I am so glad my senses kicked in and stopped me! You may be able to afford the car, and the gas, and the insurance, but at the end of the day...you will be driving it to school where 99% of the people won't care half as much for their car let alone the cars around them. Every single one of my friends who had a new car did not escape the first semester without a scratch, door ding, or vandalism. If you are prepared for that, then go for it.

Plus, you will be in college! That will be 4 maybe more years of your life where you have a resemblance of freedom, bad choices will be made, and it will be a godsend to have money saved away instead of sinking it into a new car. Take the common consensus and purchase a used vehicle that is reliable, fuel efficient, and cheap on insurance and save the new car reward for when you graduate college. And also on a car that by then will not be a first year model and will have most of the kinks worked out.

But take it for what it's worth, it is ultimately your decision. No one is going to make it for you. But asking a bunch of guys on the Internet, who have been in your shoes, if this choice at your age is a wise one, the vast majority will say patience. And I defer to the beginning of my post where I wanted a new Camaro, 4 years later and I saw the car I really wanted in the BRZ. Amazing what a few years does for your perspective.
Yeah, I will think about thats. But, if I buy a used car at 10k, I will only have 5k after that. So, where I take the money after university for buy a BRZ if I only have 5k? And 2 years after university I will probably have children, so a 2 seat sport car will be unpratical

War plane it seems like the only answer you wanted to hear was the one given by husker, seems to me like your not willing to listen to anyone else. And to be honest and blunt everything else you hear from everyone else might not sound so nice and it maybe something you don't want to hear. So from this point on take everything with a grain of salt and to every else if your going to post anything here if its nothing that he wants to hear then don't bother. After reading this it's pretty much in one ear out the other and it's not because of age or money or where he's from this person already has his mind set.

So why bother, go on with our lives, mods should lock this op has gotten his answer. No need to drag this on.

as much as i dislike mentioning it,your father is correct! he has the wisdom of his years. you may see a fun toy,but your father knows the value is in a car that's more practical

Get a used Echo or Yaris, seriously!

I would keep saving my money and after I get thru with campus life I would then turn my attention to my other priorities. Who knows, it might be a wife, a house or perhaps a new car.
wives cost even more money! forget the wife, get the car instead! just kidding!.

Normally I would not recommend taking internet advice but when that aligns with your parents' advice, it is worth heeding

You work hard for your money, it's worth putting it towards something meaningful like further education or a house.

A $25K car? You may not see it today, but you have enough people telling you THAT would be a poor investment choice.
all glory is FLEETING! in time, your toy will just be another car that gets you from point a to point b,not unlike millions of others on the road...just sayin'
