I'll number the issues so you can keep track!

1. So if I have nowhere to plug the first male plug I assume that means I can't wire a separate Bluetooth mic? Shame if that's the case as the built in mic isn't very good.

2. I thought the first plug was meant to do the job of the third but that's cool I'll plug the other two in and use the iPod lead and not worry about the other stuff at this stage.

Then I just need to wire the aerial when my aerial adapter arrives.

3. Posted a little later I sorted the iPhone thing. It was an apostrophe in the device name that android didn't like.

4. I was about to root it. Had all the files but put it in the right micro SD slot and there's nothing there. Only the left slot appears to have the SD micro female slot. So my micro SD simply disappeared inside the unit. Not sure whether to leave it in there or try and take the unit apart to get it out - what do you reckon?

And, on the LEDs, drumroll, they are.............. Green! Bright green unfortunately. The only good news is that they are only on if the headlights are on.

Are you able to give me your opinion on items 1 and 4 please?

Thanks heaps

.
#1 - Correct. I'm using the built in mic. I'm sure there is a way to solder something up to the cars built in mic, but I'm not tackling that issue.

#4 - Not so sure... if you don't mind voiding what warranty it may have, go digging for it? If the card was cheap enough and isn't causing any issue, leave it

I'm curious to see if you'll be able to root that model. My gut says that they are all the same basic design under the hood and should work. I just hope you don't end up bricking it. But someone has to to try it first right?

Bummer on the green led's... I'd buy another if it had red ones and put my current one in my wifes car.

Good luck man!

welp, finally got everything all set up today since i had some time off work.

Note: i found the culprit of the poor audio quality for me. the antenna adapter was giving me bad reception until i followed the instructions 2forme posted earlier in the thread about also wiring the blue wire of the antenna adapter to the blue wire on the unit. That made the fm reception crystal clear, but it was also the cause of my 2 door speakers and the 2 small speakers on the dash not functioning. disconnecting the blue wire from the antenna adapter and hooking it to the blue wire on the metra dash harness brought all 8 of my speakers back online and now it sounds fantastic! I can stand to live with poor fm reception, since all i listen to is my ipod and sirius xm anyhow.

Im not entirely thrilled about the fitment of my unit. I had to set the beatsonic dash kit behind the left and right bezel on the unit, which leaves this strange little gap in the center of each side. Its not really that noticable, and if i cared too much about the fitment, id sell this unit and buy the one that nzer bought. (which i might do someday anyways v.v) Pic of fitment included at the bottom.

Only things i have left to do are buy the better usb hub and bluetooth adapter that narcoden posted a little further back, and get my torque app up and running. I tried using a iogear usb bluetooth adapter i had been using for my PC, but it cant hold a connection to the OBD 2 controller. I can search and find it, but when i pair, it connects for about 2 seconds and then disconnects. Does anyone have any idea why this is? Im thinking the adapter is suspect, but if i dont have to buy another one, then thats even better!

Oh...and a HTC One for hotspotting

Ok, gonna try and root my T7019A this morning when I can get a new micro SD card.

I assume that since it is not rooted already I don't need to do an apk backup? I have no problem with it going back to factory settings provided the apps that were installed on it when it arrived (music player etc etc) remain.
@2forme or @Narcoden or someone else able to get back to me on this. Man, different time zones suck.

When i rooted my device, the only problem i found was the sygic navigation app was no longer installed. A quick download of a file manager app let me navigate to the apk and re-install it manually. All the stock apps remain on the unit after root. Its probably the easiest, one click root ive ever done on any android device

Thanks for that. If I might lose that one can I just download it gain from google play? Or should I back it up somehow?

Any tips on how to back it up if that's what you suggest as I have no idea. I also wouldn't know how to install an apk file manually so if that is the option are you able to tell me what file manager app and how I reinstall it manually?

not much to it. I went to google play and downloaded "astro file manager" and in the app searched "sygic" click it and it auto installs.

There is also an option in the settings that provides a file browser for installing apks, without having to download a file manager.

@Narcoden, @ph0en1xtk and @2forme I've got all the root files on the SD but stuck at almost the first actual root process.

The step:
"Hold "Menu" and press & hold the volume knob. After a few seconds, you will see the update screen. Let it do its business, it will reboot automatically."

When I hold menu in and then press and hold the volume it turns off as the volume knob is also the power button. No matter how long I hold it it doesn't reboot. Just stays turned off.

Any ideas?

Guys I may have found the answer in the manual @Narcoden posted.

Under updating system it says to copy the u-boot etc files to the root of an SD card and then "press and hold and panel buttons and boot."

I was starting with the unit on rather than off - idiot.

I'll try again now!

Ok, so I have rooted it and it is still working good as gold! Definitely not bricked.

Only issue I have is that it still won't turn Bluetooth on for Carscope or Torque.

I downloaded Quick Bluetooth Lite and when I select turn Bluetooth on nothing happens.

Firstly, how do I know if I have successfully rooted it?

Secondly, if I have how do I get Bluetooth turned on?

@Narcoden and @2form or @ph0en1xtk I'd appreciate your advice - I'm so close!!!

Look for an app in the app drawer. If you see an icon labeled super user you are rooted.

As for the bluetooth, it should work. You have the right app.

Yep, have super user and it opens ok.

I wonder if the issue is that the TUN21 has a bluetooth dongle and my T7019A has bluetooth built in.

Although I would have thought even without the dongle it would turn on and then error. should i get a dongle? Def won't turn on. Phone bluetooth works.

3G also won't work after i put in same APN details that i used before.

Any ideas?

You need to download a Bluetooth manager and hook up your Bluetooth dongle
