Plus, many FWD econoboxes out-accelerate us as well. Everything from sporty hatches to mid-sized sedans, minivans, and pickups. It's just not very quick in today's world.

All that being said, I still wouldn't trade this for anything else currently on the market. The only things I would buy over this cost significantly more.
I agree mostly.

I'm curious though - what minivan out accellerates this car? I keep hearing that, but have yet to find one? Seriously, just curious - that would make a mean minivan lol.

My point is, in my opinion this car is slow in the sports car world. But its definitely not slow in regards to "normal cars" - 90% of sedans & trucks on the road would lose to this car in a straight line even. At least in my town, not sure about where you guys live .

This car is about the handling and road feel, not speed!

My stock Mazda MPV spanks my FRS in acceleration.. and that's literally it.

I do notice this car feels a bit slow in the lower RPM's (till 3000-3500) but once you push in to 4K to redline, this car pulls very hard.

I have an Eclipse GSX which isn't the fastest car in the world but I've found that if I want to pass someone, it's all about timing and sneaking up on them like a ninja so that they don't get angry and try to cut me off. Plus, I try to utilize the advantages of my car which are the AWD traction (which especially helps in the rain) and the turbo so I make sure I'm in the boost range.

But sometimes, you just need to realize that you are slower. The few times people did try to race me, I immediately just backed off - I am not the type to get into a stupid street race with someone and am perfectly fine with having a slower car than them.

But with that said, I wouldn't mind a little more stock power with these cars (especially in the mid-range). :P

Well I'm too afraid to modify anything big with a car under warranty. I don't want them to tell me they won't cover my car because of some mods. So the only thing I have planned is a high flow air filter. LOL

I owned two Talon TSi AWDs ('90 and '94) and a '98 GS-T. Loved em to death.... literally, because both the Talons fell to pieces. :P

I miss the days where a $50 pipe and $250 exhaust could net me like 25hp haha.

Keep stock parts. Really with a properly tuned car and a headers, I really don't think you have anything to worry. Plus they can't deny you warranty coverage unless they can prove your aftermarket product was the cause of the failure. If anything get a tune, and drop-in for the air box. Tune(done correctly by a good tuner John, FA20Club, etc...) is 99.99% safe. Also do you have E85? If you do don't walk, run and get a tune.

Don't try to make a car be something it's not. You can do it, it's not impossible, but you can likely get to that goal cheaper, faster, and more enjoyably picking a car that is already much closer to your goal.

This thread bother me on so many levels.

My last ride was a '99 ZX6R. I would decimate the majority of cars on the road stoplight racing. The thing is, it's not fun. Good job, you made it to the next stop light before me, enjoy sitting at that stop light while I catch up to you driving like a granny and getting excellent fuel economy.

You kids have been watching too much Fast and the Furious. My car is treated like a queen on the road and a slut while autoxing. That's what this car was made for, if you wanted a fast straight line car you should just pick up a Camaro/Mustang/etc.

To those with good recommendations. I appreciate it and will use your advice.
you did race him... or i dont know the meaning of a rolling street race anymore. you shouldve known the car was lacking power before you even bought it. only a fool would buy a sports car with no knowledge about its purpose. i would suggest going with forced induction for the best power for the money. youll hurt your fuel economy but this is what you want right?
