Yes it does. These photos get taken and then posted and if we, sane people, don't bash them relentlessly and point how the 1000 ways in which this is idiotic some of the younger, less mature, more impressionable aspiring enthusiasts may actually think it's cool.

It is so sad that I can, at this point, believe these idiots might think that's a cool idea.

I would imagine they will feel really stupid when they drop their steering wheel out the window and it gets run the F over by a big ass truck and they have to drive home with a pair of vice grips for a steering wheel
Amen.

When you get rid of your control of the car so that you can take a picture, you deserve to lose your license... plain and simple.
I think this deserves worse. Once they take your license they should then take you to the junkyard and force you to watch the last car you'll ever drive get crushed before your eyes.

Yea..... that seems appropriate. Only way to nip this kinda shit in the bud.

Sadly many of the threads are just a joke, that is also why you don't see a large movement from the other subaru boards IMO. People just wouldn't put up with a lot of the clutter and sillyness on other sites, but here we embrace the 16 year old mentality. If you go through a entire page of the general forum you hope to learn or see meaningful discussion but that just doesn't happen.
I disagree. Every auto enthusiast forum I've been on has had folks complaining about what it shithole it is and how all the others are better. In truth, after the vehicle comes out and people start buying it the general sections turn into a place for folks to have fun, scrutinize, hype, criticize, etc.

In my opinion EvoM general section was just as bad back in the day.

It wasn't long there and it didn't take long here before I spent every day in the tech, regional, off topic, and photgraphy sections while checking the general section once a week.

I'm sure we got tons of folks that never even comment in these threads because they're busy contributing.

In other words.....

Does this answer your question @HunterGreene ??????

" Careful what you say now... don't let these owners confuse our concern for safety as hate! " Tell me @switchlanez , how concerned are you about me driving 4mph with no steering wheel?
@mad_sb how many innocent people can i take out at 4mph? maybe i should just take myself out the gene pool with my reckless 4mph driving?

And as for the dude in the white frs, driving on a highway at highway speeds without a steering wheel is pretty reckless, not something i would ever do. But whos to say he doesnt have a steering wheel on the hub and just holding a second steering wheel out the window to make it seem like hes driving without a wheel? Or maybe we should overreact to the pic and "hope he dies" or something ridiculous over a picture we have NO IDEA whats going on.

/thread. you guys are tools. Feel free to shoot me a PM with an apology guys i wont hold it against you.
Wow. You ARE a smart one.

Tell me what happens when 100 15 year olds in high school trolling these forums because their getting a hard on for their first cars (I was there... I'm sure many of us were) see this piece of art (I'll call it that since that seems to be the stance you're taking.... oops, I said stance...my bad) and 10 of them, regardless of whether their first car end up being an FRS or a 95 Corolla, decide with some of their friends to take some cool pics and they end up in the hospital or dead or causing the same for someone else. They don't know you're going 4... they try it at 60.

You're not being cool, you're little picture isn't cool, it's downright irresponsible. Not unlike videos of pulls to 140 mph on a public road in traffic. I'd say the same thing to them.

To look cool, that's it.
Or taking a picture of you pointing a gun at your friends head. Unloaded, of course, and then adding some cool effect and showing it to some second graders.

Yea... what he said.

Edit: epic multi-quote... apparently I was a little more worked up about this than I even realized until I hit 'post'

@Chewie4299 didnt take the pic to impress you, or for any rockhard 15 year olds, nor for this forum at all , i did it to help out a friend like i said before. Idk if thats uncool but ill be sure to reach out to you for my decision making in order to impress you and your opinion of whats "cool" in the future. is that cool bro?

I think the ultimate thing to take home from this whole thread is that hanging your steering wheel out of your car while driving is basically a universal sign to any half way intelligent person that the person in the photo is a mouth breathing idiot...regardless of your "artistic" nature.

I see this stuff and hate the fact that I will undoubtedly be associated with these internet "stars"...

Hate to break it to you hipster Instagram clowns, the only world in which this stuff is considered cool is populated by equally stupid people. Like those that think it's cool to launch bottle rockets out of their buttholes...well that's basically how I see this behavior. The people in these pictures can defend their positions to the moon, because in their world, everyone else's opinions are meaningless if it goes against what they want to do.

Car "culture" used to mean something...apparently this "culture" hanging wheels out of windows is the beginning of the Idiocracy...

Regardless of the photography techniques used to get the shot, what the fuck is the point of holding a steering wheel out the window?

Like seriously.

Are people supposed to be like, "Omg, that dude has a fancy steering wheel. Wow. I wish I had a STEERING WHEEL as cool as that guy so I could feel super fancy when turning left! And then - wait for it - I could feel fancy when I turn RIGHT too! AND when making a U-TURN! Oh, what a baller."

Because between that and thinking you are reckless, I really don't see the purpose of the photo. And clearly, any other message you were trying to convey (which, if you are truly artistic, should be the purpose of your work) was lost on the majority of the respectable population, so naturally, the shot is just idiotic.

If its your opinion to prefer film but not photography i respect your right to have an opinion but to say someones hobby has no purpose, i just cant respect that. How about he just generally enjoys it? How about hes looking to build his profolio? Live and let live man, youre 43. Hes 19. smh
Because, genius, if it were in a film, there would be a purpose behind it - as, at least in a decent film, there's always a purpose to what is shown.

Perhaps to show that a character is careless, or perhaps during an action sequence if for some reason, say, a driver were to toss a spare steering wheel to another driver. Or if it were in an advertisement, there would be a clear and well-researched reason (by the marketing team, who would be able to clearly explain the exact reason) for doing so.

But just as some fun, irresponsible shot with no clear, supportable, artistic message merely to add to a photography portfolio is not a good reason to take a shot like this, and, ultimately, just shows the lack of skill in creating meaningful pieces.

I think people agree the photography is great, the car and everything is great, posing with your steering wheel out.... Wait posing... Poser.. Posing.. Poser, what were we talking about again.. That shot would've been a million times more impressive with out the steering wheel poser.. I mean pose
