I genuinely believe that a lot of the negativity surrounding stance and a myriad of other trends stems from a belief in a proper way to modify one's car.

Maybe implying a singular way of modifying one's car is too extreme, but I'd say it's working its way towards a mutual level of respect for your car and its corresponding enthusiast community.

The truth is that these cars aren't exactly cost prohibitive and as a result you get a broad demographic of consumers.

More specifically when people modify "their" car in a manner which isn't "collectively" praised by the forum, you'll see debates like this.

Why?

Because people don't want negative stereotypes, from other car communities, to be associated with their car and respective community.

It's the people that have the most respect for their car and enthusiast community that speak the loudest.

Valid points, wrong thread...the issue here (in large part) is the decreased safety factor of said modified vehicles.

Case in point: you dont see all the FI guys getting thread sh!t by the NA all the way crowd.

When you perform modifications to a car to attract attention you will attract attention, it won't all be good. The same way that overdressed crackers with shiny watches get mugged walking into compton, tool bags with over the top function limiting mods get mugged for screwing up a car with safety defeating mods.

I laugh everytime I see an aftermarket steering wheel on one of the twins...you can tell yourself whatever you want to but this car has a beautifully balanced feel and a tight wheel perfect for dissecting corners, they are not being replaced to increase function, but when they remove them they are also removing the safety feature that saved my life and hundreds if not thousands of others last year alone...(airbag)

So do what you like but if you make it public expect to take shit for being stupid.

i know thats a majority of the reasons but also consider how small this car is. i am on the verge of picking up a wheel for my miata because i cant properly drive with shoes on because me knee hits the wheel. dropping to a smaller wheel will buy people like me valuable real estate. the issue becomes compounded with aggressive bolstering in the seats.

I have a wheel in my Daily Driver which I will be swaping over to my BRZ once I get my Sparco Seat in and a cage. But anyone with a fix butcket seat and a detatchable wheel must have atleast a 4 point cage and harnesses or they are stupid.

Safety systems work together. Driving with a safety system missing key chunks is equally stupid no matter if it's a missing airbag or a lack of helmet.
