I've had it since I picked up the car, I thought it was just the Petro 94 issue which is what I think they put in when I first got it. I switched to Shell 91 immediately when I emptied the tank, on my 3rd fill-up 1250~KM still have the chirp, but it wasn't the same chirp as before I think. It was a lot worse on my first tank. I figure I'll drive to 2,000KM before I take it in for the chirp check.

Under Warrenty, so geting it replaced as we speak.

My car does the same, it chirps very loud when using 94 and the sound is very high pitch.

When I switch to V power, the chirp becomes a lot more quiet, almost faints in the background, and not as high pitch.

Dido. I have been using the 94 Octane Petro-Canada stuff and she has never sounded so good!!

Totally agree with this guy.. I used Petro when I first got my car. Chirping started at about 5000km. Stopped using Petro and went to Esso with the odd time at Shell 91 octane and Chirping was gone.

- With Petro I could hear my car starting to chirp.
- Switched back to Esso and since then, no chirping.

No evidence from this, take from it what you want.

I worked for Shell for many years, I've tried every gas company in Alberta. Shell has given me the best mileage and performance for my FRS now and for all the previous cars I've owned.

Not being biased , but I would not fill up anywhere else unless I was out of gas.

Been using Shell, but I have been consistently that when I gas at this one gas station, it chirps. I am suspecting that that shell is selling non-premium as premium gas! Do not GO!

Filled with petro can 94 on Thursday, and for the first time I noticed the chirp on Friday while sittin in the drive thru. Was in for my first service today (5250kms) and they have a service bulletin so they have ordered the part for me. Service guy said he hadn't heard about this before.

BTW this is C&C Subaru in Whitby

I've found the exact same thing. Petro Canada and a get chirps, Shell and Esso they completely go away. I've been tracking my chirping and station use as notes when I use Fuelly.

I just filled up my tank using Petro 94 for the first time (been using Costco 91 all winter and Esso last summer) and I heard the chirping for the first time yesterday. I'll definitely be trying Shell once I empty this tank.

so I got my fuel pump changed out maybe a month ago for the chirping and after about 1100 km it started again, been using the ultra 94 the whole time and by chance ran out of gas and had to stop at shell used their 91 with 0E and it doesn't chirp. I went back and forth a few with a few tanks to see and it's the ethanol that's making mine chirp for sure.

if u read the main post for this issue most people agree it's the ethanol.

I've been exclusively on Shell 91, I started getting chirps this year after longer drives, especially when its hot. Same station all the time, I might try another one, just to see if it makes a difference. Doesn't bother me much, looks like its not a sure fix to get a "newer" pump, so I'm holding off on asking for a fix.

Okay... so I don't believe it's the ethanol since our neighbours in the U.S. have guys running E85 tune and they seem to be fine.
