hahahaha dang thats crazy and thats awesome. thanks man for the great advice im going to go ahead and run it lol

So, after much deliberation, I am going to at least buy tires. I will buy wheels later. I know, run it stock, but.... If I buy tires, I will at least have a better handling street car, so please don't tell me not to buy tires. Thanks again guys.

Don't worry, it's not a bad decision to buy tires. What did you get?

Sorry, I was on the phone and typing. I was going to ask you guys what tires you are running? It looks like rs3's and dunlops, is there anything else that seems popular? My buddy just bought some falken azenis 615k's and seems to like them. I'm really torn on what to get, as I will run them on the car the whole summer, any advice is greatly appreciated!

Dunlop Direzza Z2, Hankook RS3, Bridgestone RE-11A - all three are good bets in my book.

If you're going to daily drive on the new tires, I'd recommend the Z2's or the RE-11A's. I would not recommend the RS3's or the new BFG Rivals unless you live in Arizona or California, basically somewhere where it doesn't rain and get too cold.

I rode in Areddi's car with Dunlop Z2 SS and it had impressive grip, but if you wanted to go a different route, you might try BFG Rivals. Here's an interesting fb page logging autocross results with Rivals vs. Z2 SS on an FR-S:

Different class of tire. While still a great tire, it's not up to constant track use like other tires mentioned.

I ran 1 autocross and 2 short-track days (just slightly more than autocross speeds) on my stock tires (Michelin Primacy HC) and they still have LOTS of wear left. As a novice, you will not need to worry about the stock tires for your first event. Also, the stock brake pads worked just fine for this use. I have a lot of experience and pushed the car quite a bit, but with the slower speeds, shorter track, and lower-grip tires everything was fine. I ran stock (cold) tire pressures all three days.

Dunlop Z2s would be an awesome choice IMHO. I'm running them on my dedicated AutoX wheels and they have tons of grip. Not sure how long they'd last for DD though.

RS3s or Z2. RS3s will work best when hot below 45 they dont grip well. Dunlops work better in cold.
