Ok so I have an update!

After I ran a tank through the Chevron fuel cleaner additive I got in terms of:
(1) Mileage : 354.6 miles and filled up next with E0 87 octane fuel at 12.02 gallons;
(2) CEL or knocking issue: None. Using Torque, I haven't found any hidden issues.
(3) Chirping occurred after startup +10 minutes at a standstill. If I operate the car after reaching warmup temperature, I found it chirps on and off depending on whether there are sustained 95-97 degrees C on the oil temperature gauge in Torque (this happens when sitting in traffic). On my 16.5 mile drive from home (Waipio) to work (University of Hawaii), without traffic I have no chirping, even when parking and sitting idle for some time.

So this may be a temperature issue. Perhaps as temperature rises in the engine bay, the rising fuel vapor pressure pushes the fuel pump ECU to operate the pump faster (and hence chirp?). This is all conjecture as I have not installed Techstream to decide if the fuel pressure ecu does anything I said.

EDIT: With E0 fuel, I feel as if the chirping is less evident. It does chirp when the engine oil and coolant level temperatures are sustained. After startup +15 minutes chirping occurs. Yay?

I have filled another tank of E0 87 octane (12.42 gallons after going 372.6 miles). Ill let you know if any more weird oddities pop up and if I get Techstream going.

Oooh, the Hawaii Kai 76 just annouced they are going to make E0 available in about a month! Prob only regular grade though.
I was curious to try some of the race fuel from the McCully station, but you need to ask them about it. They no longer have a pump running it like they used to. Be intersting to see if the ECU sees it and how the engine runs. I tried it in my 20V at one time, but that car setup wasn't very good so I couldn't tell any difference anyway.

Do we have to ask the McCully station to siphon it out of some secret storage shed? BYOGC (Bring Your Own Gas Cans?)

brz chirps

Just to add in from the brz side, mine started chirping at about 300 m also about when I did my first fill from Costco. Continues via Chevron and now on Shell gas with an added chirp every 20 seconds or so if I have the air conditioning on as the air con compressor starts (apparently) - 760 m.

Supposed to go in eventually to fix an interior scratch under warranty, and I talked to a subaru mech who said (a couple of weeks ago) that they had several complaints, but only one who was willing to get his replaced at this point.

Chirping constant is sort of tolerable, the periodic from the air con is just annoying.

Will go to non ethanol just for entertainment next fill if I can find 92. Kaneohe/Kailua only has 89.

I'm on my fifth E0 fuel nearby my house in Waipio and have great success. No chirping unless I'm in dead stop traffic for over an hour. After the engine oil and coolant cools down from driving the chirps are gone. The AC compressor(?) click is loud,
[MISC Info]along with turning the steering wheel full tilt when the cars been standing still for a long time. I get that instantaneous popping noise from the stock suspension/underbody bracing [/MISC Info].

Careful which chevron you use. I had the chirp for exactly one tank of gas haha. I brought it in for the 4500 mile service, it chirped while i was waiting in line, went away after the car had been sitting for a little while. Havent had it for ~300 miles now.

If you ever heard over towards Pearl Harbor....the Chevron behind the nex has always been good.

I just passed by there and saw a sign that says ethanol free gas is available. I don't know which grade is ethanol free though.

Took my car in to get the chirp fixed. AT first they were like "we dont know what causes that we will have to take a look" I got an attitude and pointed out all the other FRSs that had been in for a new fuel pump" They made an appt and ordered my pump. I dropped the car off at 8 am and they called around 4 to say they had accidentally let all my coolant out and it was going to take till the next day to get it back to normal. A bunch of idiots if you ask me.

No chirp yet tho with the new pump.
