I've noticed that the fr-s, even with its near-perfect (for me) pedal placement, is very hard to heel-toe. It seems the first 10-15% of the the throttle is 'laggy' so to speak. I think the drive-by-wire is a bit less than perfectly linear.

auto blip is an accident waiting to happen. Heel Toe, downshift blip etc etc is not difficult to learn it just takes practice. I'm sure clutch-less down shifting is also easy to learn... it's just the learning process that scares me because when you get it wrong it frags the synchro's or gear teeth (not sure which and perhaps both). I think that is the essence of the whole debate. Shifting with the clutch protects the trans from improper rev matching. Shifting without the clutch does not.

Blipping the throttle in my Silvia prevents wheel slip. It has functioning synchromesh but it wasn't really built for a tiny flywheel and enormous rear tyres, either.
Probably overdue for an upgrade in the box.
