What's the general consensus on the new TC though? Is it positive?

I guess for the US, we're getting the same interior as the TC. Maybe they're doing this to get rid of stock ? I don't see too many of the newer TCs around SoCal.

You don't really find performance stuff for the other models. Only the tC.
which is exactly my point. for those of you who are old enough to be around before scion, the brand was thought of to be a tuner car brand for the young. what ended up happening is a bunch of rebadged boxy or quirky toyotas with a bunch of appearance options. who bought these cars? old people. i shit you not. the tC was a great addition to the scion lineup but again, it didnt go far enough.

so what im saying is that the FR-S is the last straw. if this built from the ground up sports car cannot make scion into an "enthusiast brand" then nothing will. does scion need to be an enthusiast brand? imo, yes! sales are going down. the only thing it has going for it is low price and toyota reliability. that can only go so far with the rise of hyundai. they MUST use the FR-S as a catalyst to replace ALL of their models with FRESHLY styled models with modest performance and "fun to drive" character.

Since no one knows the price, they're just reporting what they can be sure of. i.e. We are sure it will be under $30k.

So much bitching in this thread. Damn.

I'm glad scion is offering the low spec model from japan, it's kick ass. This is designed to be a bare bones sports car, and it's really showing in the scion model. This car is definitely going to top the charts for smiles/$ ratio lol

And to all the whiners complaining about non-necessary BS, it'll all be available to you in the form of options. That's how scion rolls, now stfu and deal with it.

My 06 sti. Regular imprezas were ALL green lit. But STI got a RED gauge cluster. And subaru left everything else (radio, hvac, clock) green

I agree, we should be realizing what we actually will be getting instead of what we aren't getting.

Stupid subaru. I've never driven an STI at night so I've never noticed that. I almost bought a 06 white (the good white!!) too.

At least the photos on subaru.com of the BRZ show that the cluster, hvac, etc are all red

It is 100% possible.

I'm living it. I cannot buy HID Projector Headlights for my Mazda 2 straight from Mazda even though they are available from Mazda to the rest of the world. They will not sell it to me in the US. And if i do buy them from another country they will not install them and it'll void my warranty.

So yeah, we better hope those available optional equipment parts are actually available.

Looks like a piece of shit. Good job, Scion.

The only thing I'll complain about are the me-too colors. They're ripped from the 86 and given names only an eight year old would find enticing. If there was one thing I was hoping Scion would do a bit differently, it's the colors. Where's brown? Where's green? Where's yellow? Oh well.

yeah ok, so why all the pessimism that they won't be available? just because they weren't on the car at the reveal event? the pessimism on this thread is an overreaction to say the least.

On the good note, unless something changes, it looks like the headlights feature a low beam projector halogen, and a separate high beam bulb. This would make it easy to drop in a nice low-beam hid kit. If they have a factory hid set as an option, it will not be a bi-xenon one, unless they have a completely different headlight assembly coming with it.

Shouldnt they have anticipated this response? Usually a company will put forth their top model to show its products' potential.

I will wait and see the options and the price before condemning

Americans need to quit crying

You get the cars LOTS cheaper then almost every other country, especially the UK

You get fuel cheaper than almost every country, for example in the UK we pay £4.92 which is $7.72 for the equivelant of 1 US Gallon

Anyone in the USA pay $7.72 per gallon of gas as you call it?

So you get get a bit less spec, for a lot less money

For example RAV4 (using todays prices from toyota USA/UK website.)
in the USA from $22475 =£14,326.65
in the UK from £22870 = $35,877.41

so quite a difference for the same car?
