2000 Taipei County Kite Festival

Five members of our Fighter Kite club were invited to the festival fully comped. Air fare, food and lodging.
Met up again with Ludo, the French figher prez who had been up to WA four years before.
Lots of kiters from all over the world and a bunch of new friends.

Would be great to do again.

my life sucks. one time i got stuck on a little island for the majority of a day. once i got lost in some sand dunes and then lost again in the mountains in hawaii. each of those things were only a couple hours. then there is the time i was broke and blackout drunk in mexico.

@whaap that sounds intense! Any scary moments on open waters?

There are some small islands south of Hawaii, on the way to American Samoa, that I have always wanted to visit. No hotels or major industry... just small islands in the middle of the ocean. Seems like a nice place to unplug for a while. Maybe one day I will get there.

Nothing crazy for me. A bunch of road trips going to track events around the country and a trip to Germany are about it..

Got kidnapped when I was 6-7 years old in Vietnam and returned because they deemed my family had no money.

Tell us the truth Momo. We all know that you used your mad martial arts skills to brutally massacre your captors and you strolled back home...

I was kidnapped on a moped.

Taken around the city. Asked some questions and returned.

Captors didn't want to buy me Jello.

The biggest scare I ever had was in a Newport to Ensenada race. It was night time and I was on the helm. It was really nasty out and I was harnessed to the binnacle. The skipper came out of the cabin to come on deck just as I heard what sounded like a freight train coming from our starboard (right) side. It was a huge wave. A knock down is when your boat literally falls off the face of a wave into the trough below you. That's what happened to us. The scary part was that the skipper hadn't yet hooked up his harness and he went under the life line on the port (left) side and I was able to grab his ankle and pull him back in. Had he gone over it's not very likely we would have been able to get to him.
