What was your single biggest adventure?

The current thread on young and dumb vs. old and wise had me thinking back a little in time, going over many of the adventurous things I've done in my life. That gave me the idea to start a thread on what one adventure stands out most in our minds.

Mine was on a sailboat. Four buddies and I sailed from San Diego to Hawaii in 1982. It took 16 days. The first half of the trip was rail down while the second half of the trip we had to power all the way on flat seas. When we pulled into Radio Bay in Hilo the best we could figure was we had about 1/4 galln of fuel left.

How about you?

I hope my best adventures are yet to come. I can't look back and say I've done anything like that.

I had some good times when I used to go offroading with my ATV years ago. Paragon Adventure Park in PA was incredible.

I lived in Tunisia for 18 months. That was fun (seriously, it was a blast and I'd do it again).

The one that sticks out the most to me right now is the boat hop from st.marteen to st.barths , so crazy to see such a normal civilization in such a remote and small area...

Going to NYC by two authors retouchers and photographers (Katrin Eismann & Carrie Beene), working for them at the largest photography conference, then getting contracted for Donald Trumps TV show !

Also getting a job at Heubergers where I can actually laugh and have a good time!

10 day trip through rome, florence, interlaken, and konstanz. saw some riots, got wasted with some italians, hooked up with a peruvian girl, rode mountain bikes through the swiss alps, partied some more.

it was a blur. i probably slept for about 4 hours a night, but i would do it all over again in a heartbeat

Joining the Air Force in 2004 currently National Guard. Been a long 9 year adventure, if i could go back and do it all again, i would do the exact same thing.

I'd guess my cruise to Alaska during the summer. It was a random location but it was peaceful and the weather was pleasant. I would love to go back to Alaska someday.

I've had some great times but no adventures yet unfortunately. Hopefully that will change soon!

Three months traveling around Europe with a friend and living out of a backpack (a quarter of which was camera equipment and also included, as some light travel reading, Kierkegaard's Concluding Unscientific Postscript to the Philosophical Fragments!). This was before cell phones and the internet, so I spoke to my folks back in the states exactly twice.
