I actually think Subaru gets the credit for that.
The production car looks a little like a TC and probably would have been front wheel drive if it wasn't using a Subaru drivetrain (or 1/2 drivetrain). I haven't read if the trans is Toyota's or Subarus? |

You clearly have no idea how the automotive industry works, nor do you get the point of this car, its not supposed to be a 30k car. I think your waiting for a car that doesnt exist...yet |

That is where you are going to get some flak lol... Trans Toyota and if Suby had any say it would be AWD... RWD was Toyota's idea according to Toyoda San's interview (?)...

Having owned nothing but an AE86 since I started driving, I have lived long enough without luxuries and see most of them as nothing but added weight to the car. A basic stereo to get me by and a heater are the only things I really care about. Heated seats, start buttons, colour of gauges? If these are the things you feel inclined to be upset by, you're looking at the car in the wrong light in my opinion.
I'm actually pretty jealous by some of these cutbacks on the Scion model, since I know the UK are just going to end up with a more expensive base model with things I couldn't care less about, pushing the price (and potentially the weight) of the car up. |

gte, all the engineering in this car is Subaru minus the styling.
With that being said, if the FRS costs close to 20k, that means for under 30k total you could make this car faster than any of your Supra's. |

I'll take your word for it, I thought the rwd was to appease Subaru because they did not give them the awd.

Haha, I don't know about that, but the 8k or so could make it decently fast. Depending on the compression and strength of the bottom end (I feel weird calling a boxer motors crank/rods/pistons a "bottom" end
) it could see double the power pretty easily. That still doesn't solve the styling disappointment though, which is why I'll pass on this car. The best I can hope for is it being a stepping stone as WingsOfWar mentioned. Time to accept that I guess. |

Let's all keep our fingers crossed on that. InsideLine just published an article with a headline that made my eyes boggle...

Styling is subjective, however the fact remains the 86 is a successor to the AE86, not a Supra, no matter how bad you want it or how obsessed you are with Supra's. It sounds like you're starting to actually realize that.
