Dude you got it all wrong. Park the car inside the truck.

The car is a little under 14' long and 6' wide. The U-Haul 17' truck has interior space over 14' long and 7' wide. Plenty of room!

Garage
Got my car about 350 miles away and put it on a Uhaul trailer for the drive back. Didn't put painter tape or a car over on it at all. It made the trip without getting any chips in the paint. I wouldn't worry about it all that much unless your truck is way above the height of the trailer. If it is a good 2 feet higher than it hopefully you got some hard mud flaps to keep the rocks to a minimum.
