Extend BRZ Amplifier Harness for Subwoofer
I just purchased an audiocontrol lc2i line out convertor for my BRZ Limited with factory navigation. I want to install the LC2i in the trunk nearby a small class D subwoofer amplifier and use the factory amplifier harness as a tapping point for power, source, and remote turn on for the LC2i.
To do so, I would like to avoid cutting my factory harness if at all possible. I was wondering if anyone knew of an extension harness for the factory amplifier harness or where I can purchase the male and female connectors to make my own harness. I have tried searching and found numerous references to the connectors behind the nav unit, but I would prefer to have both the amplifier and the LC2i in the trunk for ease of tuning and installation, plus a short signal run. Does anyone have an idea of where this can be sourced? Is there any reason this won't work? |

After more searching, I found that the connectors are identical to those used on the 1987+ toyota factory wiring harness. I ordered the male and female version of this and will be making a short adapter cable to avoid splicing into my amplifier wiring. Should be very easy and look good in the end.

I didn't use the L2Ci like you're doing though and I think I am introducing noise into the system going down this route. Do you have any noise in your system? If not I might consider getting a audio control box too. Thanks |

Well I haven't gotten it installed yet and I do not intend on amplifying the factory 3 way speaker setup at this time, although I do have an extra amp for it laying around, so I do not know if I will have noise. I have experienced noise using a similar setup on other cars however. Are you experiencing noise in your system? How are you amplifying the factory speakers? There seem to me numerous ways to do so using different audio processors.
From your description, I would guess noise is a possibility. If you do experience noise, you could get an audio control unit similar to mine for breaking out your FL, FR, RR, and RL into RCA cables. However, I believe your head unit (although it may only be the bespoke) has three RCA outs. From your description, I believe you are using the subwoofer RCA outs for your subs. Why not use the front and rear RCA outputs as well? The low level RCA outputs would be the better solution for wiring in an aftermarket amplifier. I wish my BRZ navigation had RCA outputs, I would use them in a heartbeat rather than the audio control unit. Another possible issue is the factory equalizer. I am not an expert in this, as I have never dealt with it, but there are de-equalizing units you can purchase to correct this. I believe the JL cleansweep is one such unit, however I am not sure. I would consider looking into this if you continue to have issues. |

Yeah only the bespoke has F, R, and Sub RCAs. The base FRS pioneer stereo only has sub-w out. Although I love the way my MB Quartz components sound (minus the fact that I have some low level noise), looking back I think simply adding a sub already greatly enhances the music.

Ah in that case, I'd look at adding one of audiocontrol's units. You should be able to get a much better quality of sound than the cheap line output convertor built into the amplifier. I'm sure the circuit for it is very simple compared to the LC2i. Hopefully you can get rid of that annoying noise by using it.

I had to get one due to my amp lacking a high level input. I imagine it is possible that his amplifier has a good quality input. There are many reasons he could have noise.
