FUEL QUESTIONS

I've got a '13 6mt and I'm putting the TRD intake + ex on. I'm also looking at getting a tune, but I'm getting confused when it comes to fuel. 93 octane is a hard find in my area, and I have been using 91 which I know Scion says is acceptable.

I've been looking at the Visconti tune, but cannot find if there is a 91 octane specific tune with that setup. (Hopefully I'm not just blind)

Also, with these low level mods, how much difference would 93 octane + the appropriate tune make in comparison to the 91?

Any info is appreciated,

Devon

youll void the warranty with a tune so you might as well just get aftermarket parts. they are cheaper and are just as good if not, better... i ran my car on 87, 91, and 93. theres almost no difference between 91 and 93 for me. when i was on 87, my car stopped having idle issues but it was noticeably sluggish when taking off from a stop.

If this was true, i'd report capitol because they put a full tank of regular in my car =/ I'm waiting for the car to run out of fuel so I can put in 91/92.

You can run E85 all day long and not void your warranty. People should educate themselves before trying to educate others. You can take your car in for service without even flashing the factory ROM back. Unless the dealer is specifically looking for something like that, and then did a ton of digging, they won't notice anything is different at all. If you're paranoid, flash back to factory.

Dollar for dollar, the tune is the best performance mod you can do for your car. Intake, exhaust, headers, pulleys, etc....none of them can compare. Tune first, mod later, data log and update tune, repeat. Tune is the key to this car really waking up.

Funny, would have bet on track time, brakes and tires (in that order) first but I guess everybody has different strategies.

He never mentioned the track once...nor any intentions of going in the future based on his post.

I personally chose suspension and wheels and tires first. To each their own...but on a HP/dollar comparison the tune wins.

Thanks for the info. FYI I will be doing a fair amount of AutoX and lapping days at our local track. Wheels and tires are in and getting put on today though.

Again, thanks for the input but no one has answered my question yet. Are you all politicians? I'm not looking for order of mods, or what you want your wife to cook for dinner tonight....

You could adjust the timing slightly with 93, but if you travel and cant find it how mich can the map adjust? These are all questions for your tuner and not a forum really. Most tuners are more than happy to discuss these issues with you as you research where you will get your tune. Any tuner that wont I would turn and run far away from

You kind of asked in the wrong forum, this would be more appropriate:
