last year during my nonstop search for a manual whiteout fr-s i was literally told by a car salesman that ill never find one and that they stopped making them in white. this was obviously immediately after telling me he just got in an asphalt fr-s.
...idiots.

I wish someone approached me when I went to a Toyota dealership recently so I had a funny story to share, but both times I went to the dealership, people looked at me and simply walked away... I later went to a Hyundai dealership down the road and he offered to open one of the Fr-s' up for me so I could drive it. I thought that was really hilarious that someone at Hyundai was more willing to show me a Scion then the people at Toyota...

On Topic: I don't care how much the salesman knows, as long as he doesn't blatantly lie and he can get me the car I want for a reasonable price I'm happy. It's a shame they find that so difficult.

There is a big difference between an [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Automatic_transmission"]Automatic transmission - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia[/ame] and a Dual-clutch transmission it's kind of like the difference between a piston engine and a wankel engine; same purpose, very different mechanically. The paddle shifters in the FRS/BRZ have much more in common with the auto in your moms minivan than the "auto" in a GTR or 458. |

Yeah, it's really annoying how car sales people often count on you being completely ignorant of all the facts.
"Oh, dey don't make auto transmission anymore? Otay, I buy a manual transmission right now." ![]() Quote:

[ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electrohydraulic_manual_transmission"]Electrohydraulic manual transmission - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia[/ame] And it's sequential which is pretty rare for a street legal roadcar so that's cool. I'm not saying you can't get a high performance vehicle with an automatic, it's the transmission of choice for drag racing because you can play with when the torque converter engages for sweet launches. I'm saying when you hear about how the automated transmissions in the new high end cars are so great they are very little like the automatic in the FRS/BRZ, which again has more in common with an Altima than a GTR. I'm sure it's a spectacular transmission, but saying "it's just like the new Porsche GT3!" is erroneous at best. |

![]() But yeah, I hear ya on the autos. However, to be brutally honest about our Evo X MR, the twin clutch transmission is not that great. In normal operation, I would probably prefer a traditional automatic. It's only when you're driving it flat out that the advantages of the DCT become clear. Around town, it has a hard time starting off (slipping the clutch) and it can be jerky at times. But yeah, I hear the Porsche's DCT is just about perfect though. Although, for fun I still prefer a manual.

I was told the "Sport" button in the automatic FRS I test drove last year "firmed up the suspension". I almost believed it at first (didn't know much about the car at the time).
I was also told by a different dealership that Scion does not lease the FR-S...that it was purchase-only. I think car salesmen are trained to never say "I don't know" to a question they don't know the answer to...like they are all told to just say the first thing that comes to mind.

I told the sales manager that I wanted to hold off and look at a BRZ.
"It's the exact same car pretty much." At least he knew what he was talking bout. |
