I found another one: http://www.tradesolution.hk/e/ptxweb...duct/1274.html

It looks to be about the same specifications. I like the button setup better on that one.
Same button setup, but this one is with 4.0

Avoid that one. It runs a base OS of Windows CE with an android emulator.

Really, avoid it?

Damn, I've ordered the http://www.tradesolution.hk/e/ptxweb...duct/1193.html it as it looked more Toyota suitable. All I want to be able to do is run carscope with my HKS OB-LINK or Torque with an ELM327.

Should I change my order or will this one still work?
@xjohnx and @2forme what do you reckon?

I had that one, and promptly returned it. It will be more headache than anything. Cancel the order. Grab the TUN21A.

Too risky to try the http://www.tradesolution.hk/e/ptxweb...duct/1274.html do you think @2forme?

I doubt it. The measurements in the details are the same on that one and the TUN. The green LEDs could be swapped out for another color if you know how to solder.

I am starting to wonder what the extra $30 is for now - especially if it's not actually capacitive.

It's supposedly capacitive also. The TUN21A also has that "Touch screen resistance touch screen" description which makes no sense. The 30$ bump up is probably for the "Toyota universal" name as everything else is the same hardware wise (from a quick glance at least).

I'm hoping that's the case. I'll probably end up taking it apart anyhow - I never quite grew out of that phase

Will the root only work for that exact model, or will it work for similar units. I have one with different buttons, but I think cpu etc is identical

The ROM is based on the device - after all, it's pretty much UNIX/Linux. The kernel is compiled with the info for each piece of hardware.

Did you have any problems with that unit?
