I don't see a slowing attempt while trying to go around vehicles that are slowing, hinting that cruise control was maybe on and not wanting to hit the brake pedal. Starting to hydroplane with cruise control engaged is like hitting black ice and flooring the pedal... and you go off-roading quick. There's a lesson here they teach in fleet driver safety training, which is on any kind of icy or heavily wetted road: no cruise control.

First step, use harnesses, seatbelts and safety equipment at all times.

Let off the accelerator and tap the brakes(Dont lock it), keep the wheels straight, put your chin down, yell and brace for impact.

In the case of a rollover, first thing you want to do to prevent it is to let off the gas pedal, steer at the direction the car is going, if that fails and you ended up rolling over, you yell rollover and relax and enjoy the ride(seriously). Dont try to fight it by stiffening up your core muscles and using more muscles than you should because your body cannot handle that much force. Do hold onto the steering wheel with your hands though to keep your hands from flinging around and try to plant your foot on the rest pedal or on the ground for the same concept.

There's one thing you forgot:

Make sure you are wearing your plastic underwear that day. You're gonna need them

Like stated earlier im guessing cruise control was on, and it might of been an automatic as well, ive been in similiar situations and a quick (really really quick) downshift has caused me to only spin once, tap the brakes, bang down a gear and stay calm ( ex military as well) although that only helped me stay calm and focused during the crisis. Keep your hands on the wheel and try not to tense up (its hard to remember all of that in .3 seconds i know)

When did you go through the training? I went through last year as an MP (infantry on wheels) so our rollover training was really in depth. We have a gunner which whose upper body is outside in the "sunroof" so the driver, TC (passenger) and the assistant gunner (back seat) have to pull him in yell rollover letting everyone know that there's a rollover occurring for whoever fell asleep or is just out of it. We use one hand on holding the gunner in the center of the vehicle and our other hand pushing the ceiling of the vehicle as hard as possible, the strengthening of your arm might cause a broken bone but they hold us a broken bone is better than a broken neck when you're not bracing yourself. I am in no way a troll. I was just curious when and where you had learned that from. We had to get in a vehicle that went up about 10 feet and then simulated a rollover. Everyone that didn't brace themselves somehow got hurt. Again, I'm not trolling, just telling you what I learned and wanted to hear where you learned it. Thanks

I did my rollover training in Fort Hood and Camp Shelby. I didnt go over too much in depth because in the civilian world we dont have gunners haha. What you described is true though in the event that the rollover had already occurred and your car is upside down. You do indeed need to brace the roof with your hand when releasing the seatbelt in order to prevent falling straight down and break your neck. What I described earlier was the event during the rollover, there is no way you are ever going to break your neck unless you get side impact so IMHO there really is no point to be bracing the ceiling since your seatbelt is already holding you tight. Hope that makes sense.

I got you I got you. The thing is we practiced in the HUMVEES from Nam haha so the seat belts auto lock worked rarely. I guess nowadays with a civilian car the seatbelt would work huh?
