Just the pass through socket will be fine, you dont need to get both.

Yes that's true, but i think using the crowfoot to torque would not be very precise anyway. The centreline of the torque wrench's head is not directly above the centreline of the nut, so you'll have slightly more leverage, which means the nut still isnt getting torqued to spec. But i guess using that is still better than nothing....?

Thanks for this. I'm doing the Eibach sportlines, and the pics were pretty helpful.

For those who think they may have messed up a strut during install because you did not use a Allen wrench , there is hope. if you re tighten the bolts the right way with a open ended ratchet and allen key , it may just not of tighten all the way down due to spinning. Of course it could of been over spun. I had 2 struts i though i spun, decided to tighten anyway because i did not want to spend more money on new struts yet, and it fixed my rattling and bouncy ride. Just food for thought.

I installed my Pro-Kit today using this guide, but i did not feel comfortable using the air gun for disassembly/assembly of the shocks
Used a vice grip around a deep socket and a allen key, worked fine for both removal and install of the topnut. Now i have a "poping" sound coming from the rear though when going over bumps. And i did hear a spring tension "fjoooing" coming from the right front when i parked my car after some driving. Maybe i tightened something to much?! Going over all the nuts tomorrow just to make sure everything seems allright EDIT: Did a check on all the nuts and bolt so they were nice and tight. And i realized i snapped 1 of the 3 bolts (top-nuts) holding the damper to the chassis in the engine bay!!! Last edited by jesperswe; 04-07-2013 at 11:38 AM. |

I used the impact gun technique to separate my rear struts yesterday and I appear to have blown both of them. Making all sort of crazy clunking and rattling sounds now. I used an open ended ratchet (from sears) and an allen key on the fronts and they appear to be fine.
Looks like I'll be headed to the dealership to get 2 new struts.

Did you reinstall the rear struts with the impact gun also? Or just to disassemble?

I read your post above but it confused me. If you have a way to fix the struts I'm all ears.

i just installed the pro kit on the front. i had to use the impact to get the top nut off (i wasn't strong enough to do it by hand) but i assembled everything by hand. how can i tell if i blew my shocks?
