As long as the price is right, this is my car. Or I could just buy the JDM badges for it in, so it's a GT86. I don't care what the name is, I just want it in my garage!

Heritage, the fact that the USDM gets screwed again with a name that has no link back to its beginning. Hopefully we don't get screwed on cost and/or equipment.

They could call it the Spaghetti and I would still buy it, cause I like spaghetti and I like this car.

The problem is that if you are making a heritage argument, it would be better if you asked for the car to be called a Corolla or Trueno. "AE86" is a chassis code that got popular. The original car never had 86 in the name so why should the new car? Why not ask for the chassis code to contain the numbers 86?

Gone is the concept car’s name FT-86, replaced by GT86. With design inspired by the Toyota 2000GT from the sixties and more recently, the early eighties rear-wheel drive drifting sensation Corolla Levin AE86, from which the GT86 takes its name, the new coupe was borne out of an intriguing joint development project between Toyota and Subaru.

lol!!

Alot of cars have/had dual exhaust not just Toyota as well - Same with the round taillights.

But hey they studied that car alot so yes they could;ve got it from that and yes i guess i am wrong.

I would have picked something else besides "AE86" for a name. We have had this conversation several times in different threads here. No need to rehash that again. If you are interested in seeing other names people were interested in, you could search for that thread.

The car will be called the FR-S. Live with it, embrace it. Buy the Subaru or import the Toyota, it's pretty much you only two other choices.

You make importing a car from Japan sound so easy!
