One of our NZ club members, @Firefly, disconnected the tube from the intake and wedged a bottle top in that fitted perfectly to block it up. Worked well until he went in for a service, dealer saw the tube disconnected and jammed it back on!

Luckily he managed to get the bottle top back out before any damage.

Runs perfect. Just tested out my new modifications and they hold up much better than tape. Okay, so I found some vitamin jar lids that fit over the holes perfectly and I used some pvc glue, but it's only temporary!

Glad it didn't get sucked into the engine. Then again even if it does, the combustion would of melted the tape and spit it out into the exhaust anyways (Assuming it doesn't contain any metal parts)...

I can't believe you even did this....but glad to see nothing happened. You should be very happy there isn't a nasioc type mentality on this forum because people would have chewed you up and spit you out over there..lol

Do what @nzer said.

If you do something this ghetto again I am going to make a special trip to Texas and smack you upside the head.

two questions.

Why aren't you spending the proper amount of money to mod your car?
50 cents worth of electrical tape to mod a 30k car seems a bit out of range for me.

Another is, if electrical tape did that much grief with you, what makes you think some bottle cap won't? I mean spend about 30 bucks and perform the mod correctly. Reading through this thread really is heart wrenching.

I was pleasantly surprised that no one called me stupid. haha! It may be common sense to you, but most people probably think that electrical tape can seal off a few small holes on an intake for at least a week, especially when reinforced with fake carbon fiber... What's a nasioc type mentality if I may ask?

I had some extra fake carbon fiber and thought, "why not?" In hindsight, it wasn't such a good idea. The engine's heat greatly reduced the integrity of the material. I thought the fake carbon fiber would be more heat-resistant, but it shriveled up and lost adhesive.

The bottle cap mod was flawless lol Regardless, I have a silicon intake tube on the way.

If you were surprised that people here didn't called you stupid, in the nasioc forums you'd be ripped a new one by now and probably not want to go back and post. that's what he meant by "nasioc type mentality". Very rigid people.
