Oh well yeah I'd never use an FD as a daily. That would be purely a weekend car. Gas mileage and reliability would dictate weekend duty only.

333hp from my 04 M3, not super powerful but definitely faster than the FRS

I miss the way the M3 pulled above 5000rpm, the FRS feels a bit flat in comparison but it's fast enough to have fun in.

The difference in power is not going to be anything like as apparent as the difference in weight!

I haven't made the switch from my (stock) S2000 yet, but I do go back and forth between that car and a ~530hp V8 RX-7. On the street, I don't miss the RX-7's power that much when I'm in the S2k, because I drive pretty sanely on the street.
The 550i is more like 3950lbs without my fat ass. I calculate Lbs/HP at 11.5 for the 550i and 14.8 for the 86, including my fat ass. That, of course, doesn't tell the real story of big V8 vs small flat 4 power delivery.

I like the idea of a V8 RX-7, but I just don't want the likely headaches of a hybrid car. If I were to drop an LS into any car, it would be a 911 996 with AWD.

I'm totally happy at the moment with the 86's power. I know in the long term I'll do something to it, but I'm not sure what. The Full Blown Stage 2 sounds amazing and, with a proper tune, could be perfectly drivable. The Vortech looks wonderfully drivable and suits the car, but ruins economy. The other turbo kits are looking a bit tame right now. I'll have to wait a year or two until we see how the car reacts to cams, more intakes come out, and people have sorted out the headers, exhaust, and tune.

My last Z
362hp 401tq

I also had a pearl white Z but it was totalled (dumb C*NT hit me making a 90° right turn in an SUV @ 45 mph while i was stopped at a stop sign) but it had the same mods as my last Z. After a few years with my black Z i went to an Audi S4 V8 (biggest mistake) as a daily and put the Z to the side as a project...Audi was more of a maintenance/problem whore than my 15yr old baby. Frs came out, i traded in the junk Audi for the FRS and sold my Z. I miss her. I daily drove my Zs for years with all the maintenance issues an old car has and 6 puck clutches. Although nothing close to a good DD, i loved driving my Zs!

Heh, I drove mine from Pawtucket Rhode Island to Beeville TX last October to run the Texas Mile, didn't think twice about it

I had a 2011 Lexus IS-F. Pretty much the opposite of the FR-S. As in big engine, big power, big brakes, big weight.

I got the FRS because its is a sports car with front engine, manual transmission and RWD. If Lexus made a IS-F coupe with a manual transmission, I would be driving that instead.

So far, more people stepping down in power than stepping up. Interesting.

I also still have a 1JZ swapped Sc300 but it is in the shop and I will probably sell it when I get it back. The last car that I had that I can compare the BRz too is my 2003 G35 6mt. Honestly I think they have about the same acceleration but the main thing is that the BRZ has no torque but the torque from the VQ in the G35 makes it feel faster than it really is. In the handling dept this is the best car that I have ever owned, the g35 is way to heavy and the SC300 is way too long and heavy too. I got a chance to drive a turbo FR-s yesterday and I cant wait to turbo mine in a year or 2 great low end torque, acceleration was amazing and we all know that the chassis of this car is great.
Svt owner here as well. Miss mine a lot, but very impractical for daily driving. I still have no regrets about the switch

I used to drive the IS350 & ISF but after driving the FRS for a while, the IS line with 300hp-400hp range feel like a heavy sedan. The FRS is light, quick, responsive with excellent handling and balance at every turn and corner. It's just simply amazing piece of engineering and art.

In this order:

330whp EVO VIII GSR -> 300whp Mazdaspeed 3 -> 350whp EVO X GSR -> FR-S (MT).

My FR-S is still bone stock with 3500 miles. I don't miss the power at all, but I almost never get on the highway either. Might go FI one day, but still can't get enough of this car around town as-is, and on the Georgia country roads. It's perfect.

Uh... Trust me... The GT-R requires A LOT of driver involvement when all the nannies are turned off. Contrary to popular belief--it DOES NOT drive itself... lol

It actually feels like a big, even more powerful Z06 (which I had a lot of seat time in as well).

350Z to 370Z to EVO X that was modded heavy for track to the BRZ. the step down in power is of course noticeable. But the handling and response is spot on. its not cumbersome feeling like my EVO. and quicker to point and shoot then the Z. I love my Z and saying that the BZ has a lot more to offer. I love the limited interior, HIDs etc... but I also gain a trunk twice the size of the EVO's trunk and still have two rear seats that i can use for my kids if I need to. and it looks great, plus the wife loves driving it over the EVO. Oh and plus getting 36 MPG on high way.... can't compare that to anything cough cough EVO 15.7 average cough cough.
so win win win all around. It will soon be headed towards 400WHP and all suspension and brake mods to make it my soon to be favorite track car.
