Actually.... I'd be willing to bet that 90% of the time the pros like Mr. Block leave the nannies on on the street. He freely jokes about how much he crashes.

You should take up deer hunting this season. I heard revenge is a dish best served with venison.

Yes. This is what annoys me about that damn Nationwide commercial I've been seeing. "People are braking for squirrels". Don't brake for squirrels, you morons. You're going to get rear-ended when someone can't react quickly enough because you just went from 40-0 without any warning. And if you swerve and brake, you might even lose control and injure or kill yourself or others. All this over a stupid tree rat. Just run it over. There are millions of them.

Unless it's a rhino or something, or you know you can safely avoid it, just take it on the chin and hit it. It's not worth potentially losing control and killing yourself.

Next time hit the deer.

More damage but probably same or less deductible. Biggest difference....Premiums. You hit the deer it'll be a comprehensive claim which doesn't affect your premiums. But now that you hit the curb and not the deer they won't care and it'll be a collision, which affects your premium.

And its way more fun...

Hopefully all these Ken Block wannabes running around town with their TCS and VSC off all the time will learn from your mistake. We were ALL 23 once and I made my share of mistakes too!

Leave it on unless you REALLY mean it! Turning it off doesn't make you a better driver and it especially doesn't mean you are a better driver. It just reveals how inexperienced you are to people FASTER!

Good article here on the subject.

As sad as it is, yes, you should actively try to hit the deer rather than swerving to avoid it. I'm sure some drivers can and have pulled this off, but it's not the recommended approach.

Another note - in many/most states if you hit and kill a deer the responding authorities will generally give you the carcass if you ask for it. This means plenty of free venison for you.

99.9% sure you bent the A-arm. Certainly isn't the end of the world and such an accident does cause the ABS/traction light to come on. Besides a new rim it should cost around $500 to get fixed.
