It would be pretty impressive though if some of the nice features like HID's were made available on the base FR-S. Then I really would have no reason to choose a BRZ over a FR-S.

It's cheaper to buy the FR-S front bumper and get it paint-matched. Then you'd still have BRZ headlights.

That's my plan!

That's true but I prefer the oversteer nature of the FR-S over the more planted feel of the BRZ.

I sware I'm going to wake up tommorow and a chevy aveo will come standard with LED DRLs. I personally do not like the look. VW Group/BMW has done a terrible thing to the aftermarket community. What happened to the good old days when people liked Japanese cars because they were different and better than european cars for a fraction of the price.

Call me old school but give me non-cluttered projection and a key I can turn.

Headlights looks are subjective I give you that but the fact is that stock FRS does not come with HIDs. HIDs give better visibility so we're missing that "feature". Yes you can add your own HID bulbs but the halogen projectors won't accurately project the light giving a slight glare and in order to get a true HID project with a correct cutoff it will be a lot of work and a couple hundred. Start button is also subjective so I'll leave that as is, I personally think its cool but really who cares.

Has anyone actually compared the stock FR-S lights to the BRZ HIDs as far as functionality? Or is everyone just assuming that the HIDs are much better? I was terribly underwhelmed by my MKV GTI's HIDs. According to consumer reports, both have very good forward visibility. The FR-S has good sideward visibility and the BRZ has very good sideward visibility being the only difference.

Funny, CR says my reflector halogen equipped 4Runner delivers EXCELLENT forward visibility.

Can be modified, too, but I see your point. That appealed to me as well, but still couldn't get myself to drive a Scion or lose all-weather content since I live in Alaska.

Sometimes I wish my BRZ was just a TAD spunkier. However, my view is tainted since I've been driving on studded tires since mid-October. Hopefully summer tires can go on in the next week or two. We're in break-up season right now. Supreme nastiness outside.

Most of us already own a FR-S/ BRZ, so why are we all bitching about the RS version?!

I know how you feel. Living in Canada is making me research winter tires for the FR-S more than the car itself!
Plus the loss of power at 3600 ft above sea level is making me sad.

So are the base 2014's going to be available in June as well, since that's when the Limited Editions will be available, and also the base 2014 tC's.
It just seems weird there seems to be absolutely no information on the base 2014 FR-S models if they're going to be released in June as well considering that's less than two months away now.
They should atleast be telling us what's on it to get us all hyped up and get our check books ready!

Well, I'm no expert, but I believe that Scion releases new models and refreshes a couple months early to take advantage of the summer buying season. The RS series cars are usually released in June, so the Series 10 release fits that pattern.

I went to the dealer yesterday and was about to buy, but the one I wanted had options I didn't want and it was auto. I think I might just hold out for a few months just to see what the 14 has to offer

To be quite honest, the 2014's will most likely not be much different than the 2013. At best, it will have more options available and slight tweaks to fix the first model year problems. That being the case, it wouldn't be smart to advertise the base 2014 too much because then it will just devalue the current 2013's. They want people buying '13s up until the 2014 rolls out, then they can sell potential buyers 2014s AND slightly price reduced 2013s.
