Sorry it grenaded on ya... but shit happens, right. I'm quite surprised how well it was taking it, although I was expecting better #‘s due to high compression. Then again that rich afr could be the culprit. Could definitely cut back on fuel a little and make another 15-20 on the 100 shot.

I'm thinking an Act 6-puck and window switch in my future. Btw, what all did you have on your car from NX?

Nitrous doesn't like fuel cut rev limiters.

I thought you had a window switch, shouldn't that stopped the bang on rev limiter with spray?

Sad to hear you engine is dead so quick and you are taking it really well, i would be pissed even if i knew it was a possibility.

Sorry it blew. I wouldn't of done a hundred shot and ive learned from past experience even at 75 shot stock clutches cant handle the sudden increase in torque. Im now reluctant even at 75 shot just because it went so fast. Seems strange becouse a stock vortech blower is at 9lbs boost and near 300 hp

This is why I hate so much the way information is presented sometimes (no knock on you AT ALL, you weren't the one who posted this information!!).

Vortech's kit is at 249 WHP @ 9 psi. The 294 figure is crank HP.

Also vortech doesn't make instantaneous torque... I can't think of any other power mod that can basically double torque output almost instantaneously..... hence why I am going this route asap! The only worry I have is what kind of lifespan the act 6-puck can offer... since at around $800 a pop I can't afford to have it wearout every 5k miles or so... my stocker is starting to slip at 20k miles due to many harsh launches/burnout, and many 1-2 powershift wheel spins. Although I don't have a sticky 245 so for me grip will be the weakspot. Which means plenty more of

A 6 pluck should last the lifetime of your ownership. Its rated to something like 500 WTQ.

The Act one is only rated to 345 although I'm considering the fx400.

My bad then. The FX400 is the one rated for 500. I mixed them up.

So from what I'm gathering, this would NEVER have happened if there was a window switch installed to cut the nitrous before redline??

Also, I'm not yet familiar enough with ecutek's capabilities to know this, but can a map be setup with an ignition rev limiter for safer use of nitrous with ecutek? @Visconti or @moto-mike should know this.

This will definitely feed the nitrous hatred, and tbh, it does make me second guess the great value, as your engine was obviously one rev limiter bounce away from catastrophic failure.... Clearly this kit isn't 'complete enough' to run a 'fail-safe' nitrous setup. (To stop flames in their tracks: Yes, I know that fail-safe doesn't exist.)

I was hoping to be able to see better results, not so much power, but longevity! It would have been great to see the car take some abuse over 6months-1yr, without any major failures.

Hopefully someone "more responsible" gets there hands on a kit and takes full precaution when setting it up (fail-safe features, ecutek tuned). And that is not a jab at you, just that from your post explosion comments you don't seem to have cared very strongly for the car, and you and your wife in a way almost enjoyed seeing it happen...

Can we chalk this failure up to 'irresponsible use' so that I am not forever deterred from nitrous?

how bad are the fx and act clutches for daily driving? i'm going to need one soon and would like something with decent capacity for a boosted fr-s, that won't be too rough in traffic.

I'm installing the FX300 (345 WTQ capacity) in two weeks. Its supposed to be good for DD. Will let you know impressions.

Anything 6 puck is not equal to driveable.
