Here's the TRD catalog if needed (http://www.toyotaracing.com/trd/cata...g_lowres_R.pdf). It does show the TRD intake with the same part number listed earlier in the thread along with the other 4 TRD parts for the 86.

Do you know if they still had their stock snorkel routed?

Sorry for the confusion, I'm asking about the piece labeled "Fresh Air Scoop." Do you know if they kept that piece? It feeds out of the engine bay and into the bumper.

Edit: Yes, the 2nd option which you edited in.

Yea the fresh air scoop was in there. I dont know why they would get rid of it cause thats what controls the air to flow into the air box. To answer your question though YES it was there and not removed.

I really want to get this one over just about every other CAI, except for maybe the Perrin.

Cant wait for someone to give some dyno results. If the TRD gives anything close to the Perrin in hp and torque then I will choose the TRD because I would not have to take the bumper off for install and every time I need to clean the filter.

It might give you a hp or maybe two but it will improve your throttel response for sure. I was talking to someone at a meet who is into dyno and tune and he said the best bet is to get a tune. You may see hp with an CAI intake but over a period of time most start to lose hp and some throttel dip response. Most people are going back to the air box and drop in filter but then again its all here say

Does this delete the sound resonator/generator as well? Wonder if Toyota/Scion will be smart enough to plug the hole in my firewall when they install this for me, haha.

OK, I'm a BRZ driver, does the FR-S also have the sound-tube to the passenger side fire wall? I couldn't abide the racket from that questionable device and installed the firewall plug cited elsewhere here. None of the aftermarket intakes I've seen really gather outside cold air from what I've seen, at least this one has the intake mounted forward to get as much cold air as it can get. When I raced in the sixties, we all fabricated cold-air boxes for our race cars. Sometimes we could route air through an empty headlight mount. This TRD box looks good to me; larger volume, larger filter and it still routes all the air past the mass-air sensor.

I would love to attend. Ill have to check my schedule with regards to work. I also need to change my oil, so if I end up having that weekend off, I may try and do some maintenance stuff instead.

How many miles you got? Change your oil this weekend or next. I want to see what you put down on the dyno, especially if you have this TRD airbox.
