So true. Ill have to quote Jeff@ perrin running a turbo at 12:5:1 compression and having a boost ,tuning, fuel starvation can and will be extremely bad. Which is common sense really. Number 1 reason why I bought a vortech. That being said ill also say this result has nothing to do with the FBM kit. I'm sorry your car popped.

The wastegate can cause a boost spike. It's sole purpose is to open when it senses the correct pressure in the charge side. If it doesn't sense that pressure for what ever reason or if it has the wrong spring....bad things happen.

Bad fuel pump install could have caused lean state.

A dyno tune/boost gauge (at the minimum) should be done before boosting. This allows you to asses the system's functionality in a controlled/safe environment. Every install I have done on my own car never came out 100% due to the complexity and the shear number of parts that goes into these kits. All mistakes were caught before or on the dyno.

Hope toyota can do something for you. Good luck
Good post

Better Post Note the RED

Glad someone else said it so I dont have to, but y'all think I been singing to the choir on the risks of TC?Look mistakes happen, accidents are just that, so lets not make it an attack at any vendor, or TC vs SC, you can make your SC as risky by running out and rushing and slapping on a tiny pulley, too(). I realized this may sound harsh, you're really lucky no one got hurt, nothing really exploded or caught fire....but it is not about whose kit or technology you select, it more about the native nature of the BEAST. We cant treat and tune this like mustang or a VW. I dont want to see any of you, or your cars get hurt, so BE CAREFUL building! its HIGH CR. Adding a high boost capable setup assumes this risk that should be a given-if you cant deal with that scale back your goals, check the budget. I have always said if I had more money I'd turbo this car, and this is exactly what I meant. I dont mean to come off like a troll, so please if youre reading my post that way, youre reading my intentions wrong.

At least you and others have learned something from this.

1. Don't let a dealer install an aftermarket turbo.
2. Make sure everything gets installed correctly by doing it yourself or overseeing someone else doing it for you.
3. Test and tune everything first.
4. Full Blown is a badass mother fucker.
5. 'Merica

You are right mostly. I agree whatever kit you want to run first make sure it is flawlessly installed, make sure there is some type of safeguards in there and pay close attention to how the car is behaving.

OP, I hope you are up and running good soon!

I don't know why people are jumping on this guy. This is a painful learning process regardless of car or the turbo kit. Turbos have a lot of variables especially when the car ddoesn't have the turbo infrastructure from the factory. The positive is this will be a great lesson for others who go turbo. There are a lot of considerations and checks that need to take place often with a turbo car.

again sorry to hear, i hope you get back up and running soon. Perhaps you will go with some built components if the piston rings failed?

Well, this gives you a perfect excuse for a motor swap.

Don't do a 2JZ, make it unique.

Though i would go after the guys who installed it...

This car doesn't need a motor swap, the FA20 is awesome(when its in tact) haha :P

If you can i'd contact FBM and get the hookup on a new built block.
