Great news, I hope to have mine fixed once I see this part number change. That's the only way I'll get it fixed.

I bought my FR-S on 13 Mar 2013 with 5 miles on it. I noticed the chirping before I drove it home and thought it was just not broken in yet. Reading this forum I decided to take it in just to see what they would say. They wanted to replace the water pump and the fuel pump. So I took in the car the 19th and had a rental car for three days before I took my car back. Still waiting on a fuel pump. I'm wondering if it will ever come in.... For now I am filling up with Chevron to see if it will help any.

I had my fuel pump swapped out this week per the TSB. I forgot my invoice, but I was specifically told by the service manager that the pump they put in my car was a different part number than the original.
I've driven a few hundred miles without crickets now, but once I get my invoice I should be able to confirm that it is indeed a different pump.

My service advisor told me the same thing. This was the second replacement pump that was put on the car and he assured me this pump was a different part number than the other one. I've driven over 400 miles now with no crickets.

Below are the part numbers:

SU003-00328 PMP AY FUEL, H PRS
SU003-00342 PIPE AY-FUEL DLVY
SU003-00347 GSKT-FUEL PIPE
SU003-00290 GSKT-INT MANIF
SU003-00316 GSKT-THROT CHMBR

Has this happened to anyone,
Have you went it to the dealership changed out your fuel pump due to the crickets, and after a couple thousand miles. Encountered the exact same problem happen once more?
My Fuel pump replacement was at 7500 miles and im at 11k and it has happened again but its more louder.

I can't believe this thread and problem are still ongoing!
That's almost 1,500 posts!!!!!

There is no ethanol here and after almost 6,000km my engine is as quiet as the day I bought it. However if it was chirping I wouldn't hesitate to add 2 stroke oil[high quality ash free] to the tank when I filled up, as has been discussed. It only needs 1 part oil to 1,000 parts fuel to shut it up, that's 6 teaspoons of oil for an 8 gallon fill up.

Why put up with an engine that sounds shithouse and dealers that can't/wont fix it.

SunkenFRS...thanks for posting, and for giving me hope.

FR-S Matt...I'm with you. I've been relatively cricket free for the past few months, but now that the temperatures in the Great White North are starting to creep above freezing, they're coming back. Dammit.

That's the same part number. Your crickets will be back. Until SU003-00328 changes, not having pointless work done on my car.

At this point we'll probably have to wait until the '14 comes out. I gotta believe that they have redesigned the fuel pump for the next model year and that we can get that pump once it is stocked. But at this point even if they are making them now they'll all be designated for new production cars. Until then I just laugh it off when I hear it, imagining years from now people will know it's a '13 FRS/BRZ because of the chirp. Maybe even some will refuse to get it fixed as a badge of honor.

Why do you care? And why is it such a big deal? I bought the car because it's fun to drive, not so I look cool when stopped at a light. I couldn't care less what it sounds like, puts a grin on my face every time I drive it and that's all that really matters for this car.

The same Subaru engineer that came to look at my car before my second pump came again. This time around, with the car making exactly the same amount of noise, he said "it's normal". Last time he okay'd another replacement. So I'm guessing Subaru just decided to stop replacing these too. No sure if it's a good or bad sign.
