e85 will be better. Similar anti-knock characteristics but more energy (per stroke, as mentioned) and better cooling properties.

Wow! This is amazing news. I love this kit and I am happy that it can make this kind of power.

What is the added cost to get it up to this above the cost of the kit?

Better cooling because you have run a much richer AFR then regular fuel?

That combined with the fact that alcohols have a natural cooling effect. As they vaporize they draw a lot of heat from the air or anything they're in contact with. It's why alcohol feels cold on your skin.

I think so, especially on a Mustang Dyno!

There's a thought I've never entertained. I thought the cooling effect has based around evaporation properties, same reason water feels cool the skin.

What's this effect called that you speak of, the drawing heat from that which it is in contact with?

The HKS D1 drift car is making 580hp.

How is it compared to Race gas then (Q16, C16...etc).

Yeah on a fully built motor. Nothing even close to the retail kit.

I'm honestly not sure what's in Q16 or C16. But unless it's high in something like ethanol or methanol that has that cooling property it won't have the same effect. Most of the oil based products do not.

Methanol has an even stronger cooling effect and when tuned for has even more potential power output than ethanol. But it runs even richer and because of that is less practical from an actual MPG standpoint. If you calculate the effective MPG it spanks gasoline but that doesn't really have any practical meaning for the average user.

In many areas, E85 is both cheaper and easier to get than race gas. Here in SoCal it's hard to get race gas anywhere other than a racetrack, so you'd have to buy a bunch of it to take with you if you wanted to do a bunch of dyno tuning with it. E85 can be found within 30 minutes of most places. Not so practical as a daily use fuel, but not too bad for tracking/tuning days etc.

^It's the same thing...

On aside note..We also need a 91 octane tune to compare and justify prices relative to other kits.

The cooling property everyone it's referring to is the heat absorbed when a liquid turns into gas.

Latent heat of vaporization comes to mind, but it's been a while since I've read a steam table.
