I'd agree with this for sure. I doubt Jeff would disagree with that statement either though.

What the OP is looking at is serious overkill and will cost him a lot more in the long run than needed IMO.

OP: To get a clear look at all costs, document all of their consumable costs, you need a lot more life out of a $500 rotor for example (bulk ford racing rate on alcon and brembo 14" rotors for 302S/302R brake setups - $700 retail.. per disc) to make it make sense economically compared to a $165 disc, etc. Also check weight, go too big and heavy and you are likely to slow the car down more than anything else, and of course as mentioned check brake torque output F/R and see if it falls within the bias you want. Also, where in Florida are you? Come ride in my car and see if you think you need that much more brake

Agreed 100%! I was in no way trying to be derisive. Alcon makes a top quality product, and I would rate them near the top of the food chain with AP Racing and Brembo. And yes, they are a legitimate competitor with AP Racing at just about every level of motorsport. I would certainly rate those three companies as the top brake manufacturers, and then everyone else.

Your analogy of Ferrari and Lambo is a fair one. In regards to the OP's dilemma though, there's no need to throw a sledgehammer when a ball-peen hammer will do the job quite nicely.

All of that said, Alcon's most recent designs at the elite level of motorsports are a direct copy of AP's Radi-Cal design foundation. In England, there is currently a major patent infringement lawsuit over this situation. That's all I was referencing.

Keep us updated.

We've had absolutely no issue with our Essex AP Racing "Sprint" BBK, even on R-comps. For validation, we also happen to hold the majority of the local track records for *ANY* naturally aspirated FR-S/BRZ.

We're also now dealers for Essex

Interested to hear what people think of their BBKs. That being said, I'm sticking to my guns and running OEM brakes for now

I am truly curious to see the end result. I know I'm abusive on brakes and you aren't so I'm hoping you'll have better luck than I did

I run with 18" wheels, and they clear Alcon calipers. If you are unsure, ask JDL, and they send you caliper profile http://www.jdl-brakes.com/

For the money that kit costs AP Racing's Formula Series Brake Kit would of been a better quality kit.
